Sugarpill Liquid Lip Color in Trinket - Swatch & First Impressions!

Four months. Four long months I waited for this product, and finally it's here!
Ooh! Aah! Yes my Trinket liquid lip color from Sugarpill is here and I'm super excited to share swatches and my first impressions with you guys. Due to some computer issues way back in January when Sugarpill first listed this product, I managed to purchase it, but not really; there was a glitch that oversold Trinket and let people check-out and even receive confirmation e-mails for their orders. I was pretty crushed when I found out I was one of the unfortunate people who had bought, but not really, Trinket. However! Because of all the hype and excite surrounding Trinket, Sugarpill promised to make another batch and let us either wait it out and get our Trinkets when they were ready or cancel our order completely and get a notification when it was back in stock. I opted to wait. And now the long wait is over!

May 2016 Play! By Sephora - The Forces Of Nature - Unboxing & Review!

Recently, Sephora opened their subscription service, Play!, to a wider audience. I believe you still have to sign up for the waitlist, but it seems like more and more invitation e-mails are being sent out. There was even a weekend where you could just sign up for it without having been on the waitlist, but then some people ended up on the waitlist anyways and then weren't able to subscribe...I'm not 100% sure what happened, but I know it was a very confusing situation. Along with changes in the subscription process, Sephora is apparently reworking the service itself, starting with the May 2016 box.
To be honest, I'm not really sure I like the direction this subscription service is going; I haven't been subscribed for very long, but I much prefer the previous couple boxes I've gotten over this newer version.
An interesting assortment of items, though there are some that I unfortunately can't use...

May 2016 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month - Duos - Unboxing & Review!

Hello! It's been a while, hasn't it? You guys know the drill: life happens, poor lighting for pictures, and a variety of other excuses with varying levels of plausibility. So let's cut to the chase and talk about the Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month subscription bag for May 2016!
The themes are no longer explicitly stated on the information cards (at least from what I can see), but I'm pretty sure the theme for this month is duos: duochromes, dynamic duos, and twins (the GWP for May is called '#twinning' as well)!

Another Darling Clandestine Mini Haul - Summer Collection - Review!

I have a slight addiction to purchasing things that smell. Not things that smell bad, of course, but things that smell...interesting. Good, but interesting. The two smelly products that I purchase to fuel this addiction are candles (and those wall plug-in things that are basically the same thing) and perfume. You can find a lot of interesting scents in candles, but finding a unique fragrance can take a little more digging.
Which is why I love to purchase indie fragrances! My favorite place to get unique scents from is Darling Clandestine because they are different, well-crafted, and oh so good. This is my second order in the last couple months and for this one I got three Bitsy, and one Itsy Bitsy, vials of fragrance oils from the summer collection.

May 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag - Destination Chic - Unboxing & Review!

My May 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag is here (well, it was here a couple weeks ago...) and in the never-ending battle of Ipsy Vs. Birchbox, it definitely won this month.
It wasn't necessarily amazing (May boxes tend not to be for some reason), but I liked the variety of products and I feel like I will get more use out of them than the products that were in my Birchbox (I feel bad for bashing Birchbox so hard; if you want to read more about my thoughts, see my post about it here).

May 2016 Birchbox - Out Of Doors - Unboxing & Review!

I'm starting to get the feeling that May boxes from most subscription services are a little...blah. There are exceptions to this rule (the May Allure box was really great, though it had some serious customer service issues), but looking back, it seems like May boxes are almost always disappointing. Unfortunately, my May 2016 Birchbox adheres to this trend.
Out of all my Birchboxes this year, the May box is probably the most disappointing; it does have some redeeming factors, like the sample I picked and the fact that I got 60 Birchbox points instead of the regular 50 since I got a bonus sample, so it won't cause me to unsubscribe or anything, but I guess I just wanted something with a little more 'oomph'...

May 2016 Allure Beauty Box - Hot Summer - Unboxing & Review!

Depending on your status as a subscriber, the May 2016 Allure Beauty Box is one of the best things ever, or one of the greatest disappointments. Allure releases spoilers for their Beauty Box before it ships, and one of the spoilers for May was the Foreo Luna Play, a $39 facial cleansing device. This obviously caused a huge influx of new subscribers, but, unfortunately, Allure ended up overselling the box and many people who were expecting the May box are now going to start with the June box. I do feel bad for those that are unable to get this box, especially since it was the reason why they signed up for the service in the first place (I know how much it sucks to get your hopes up and then to be told you can't get/do something), but I am also thankful that Allure made sure that all the current subscribers were able to get this month's box. All too often, it feels like subscription services reward the new subscribers instead of the loyal, long-term ones (but again, if I had subscribed because of the May box and was told I wasn't going to get it, I'd be pretty upset, so I understand the negative feelings people have about it).
So, with that out of the way (if you want to read more about the whole debacle, you can find a lot of info at My Subscription Addiction), let's dive into this amazing box!

Darling Clandestine - Indie Fragrance - Haul & Review!

Do you like to smell good? Do you find mainstream perfumes to be a little...dull, lacking, and/or uninspired? If so, you're like me! And if you're like me, you'll love Darling Clandestine, an indie perfumery run by the amazingly talented Evonne.
I own quite a few fragrance oils and perfume solids from Darling Clandestine (DC from here on out due to laziness), and have been meaning to purchase more (almost all of them sound amazing and are like Pokemon and I need to catch 'em all), but only recently have been able to. So now I have two orders sitting on my desk, waiting for me to share them with you (and I may have another coming later this month, depending on what gets released on May 22nd...)! This first order includes two fragrances from the general catalog and two from the winter collection  (and I'm still kicking myself for not getting an Itsy Bitsy vial of Vortex when I had the chance...)

Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin - $50 Nail Polish?! - Swatch & Review!

I am a nail polish collector. Hoarder, addict, enthusiast...however you want to say it, I love nail polish! There are so many colors, finishes, bottles, brands, etc. available out there that it's always exciting to shop for and research and track down. Recently, I was able to check a polish off my list of must-haves for my collection: the Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin nail polish.
Ooo...ahh... This polish actually released a while ago, but I had a hard time justifying paying $50 for a nail polish, even one as gorgeous and iconic as this one. I've finally been able to drop the cash on it and I am ecstatic to add it to my collection!

May 2016 Julep Maven - Rainbow Bright - Unboxing & Review!

After many months of sporadic boxes interspersed with long stretches of skipping, I actually got my Julep Maven box for the third month in a row!
Not only were the polish colors especially pretty this month (lots of shimmer and bright colors), but I was also really interested in trying the new beauty product for May, the Your Lip Addiction tinted lip oil since lip oils are the newest trendy thing from Korea.

Sephora Favorites Power Of The Petal Kit - Review! - Plus, Mini-Review Of NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

About once a day (only if I'm free; if I'm doing something else, I don't stop to check or anything), I browse the Sephora website to see if there's anything new or interesting in stock. If you've read my previous post, you'll know that I am huge fan of the Sephora Favorites kits. Normally, there are a few fragrance kits in stock, and one or two makeup kits (both types are good values, but I either already purchased them or they're not products that I am interested in right now), but one day, a skin care kit called Power Of The Petal caught my eye.
I'm a sucker for these kits, especially skin care themed ones, so I decided to give it a try. There are some products in here that have been featured in these types of kits before, but there are also some products that I've never sampled before. I'm glad I got it when I did; it keeps popping up now and then, but it doesn't seem to stay in stock very long. Hopefully they stock it in stores as well, but I have yet to see them at my local Sephora.

Sephora Favorites Quench Your Skin Kit - Review!

Out of all the beauty and makeup kits and value sets available, my favorite by far are the, amusingly enough, the Sephora Favorites.
Not only do these kits include a wide variety of products (all curated based a theme) from a wide variety of well-known and trusted brands, they are almost always an excellent value. If you're like me and love having a lot of deluxe sample/travel size products to try, these kits are meant for you! For this post, I want to share with you the Quench Your Skin Sephora Favorites kit.

This kit came out around January, when Sephora had all their skin care specials, but you might still be able to find it in-store if you're interested in purchasing (I've seen it still in stock at my local Sephora's; it has popped up online once or twice, but you'll have better luck at a physical store). Sometimes, I can't always justify buying the makeup kits because I worry about being able to use up all the products before they go bad, but I don't worry about skin care because it's something I use every single day and I know I will go through it!

April 2016 Play! By Sephora - The It Crowd - Unboxing & Review

I don't know why it took Sephora so long to come out with a subscription service; when I think about mid/high-end makeup and where to purchase it from, one of the first retailers I think of is Sephora (possibly Ulta, too, but Ulta is more of a drugstore/hair care store in my mind, though they do carry a lot of the same brands).
The April 2016 Play! By Sephora box is my second one from this service, and I believe the 8th one overall (I've heard various times for when this subscription service started, but the booklets have numbers on them that I assume are counting the number of total boxes, unless Sephora is counting off a year starting at a month different than January. Last month was the 7th and this month is the 8th). The theme for April 2016 is 'The It Crowd', and when I saw the spoilers for it, I was quite excited!

Influenster SK-II VoxBox - Facial Treatment Essence & Facial Treatment Mask - Review!

Do you like giving your opinion about products, whether in reviews, in blog/vlog posts, or in person? To like receiving free products in order to review? If so, then you might enjoy Influenster! Influenster (that's my referral link; I like to be transparent here) is a website that you can connect your social media to to increase your social impact score in order to receive products to try for free from campaigns called VoxBoxes. You can also review products and answer other users' questions directly on Influenster to also increase your social impact score. I'm not sure how it's decided who gets what VoxBox and when (there are a lot of different categories, including beauty, food, and gaming and you can invest more time in one category over another, which has an effect on what type of VoxBoxes you get chosen for), but I'm pretty sure that the higher your social impact, the more likely you are to get them.
I've been quite lucky lately and have gotten a few makeup/beauty related VoxBoxes, and my most recent one if the SK-II VoxBox!

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Brow Box - Bathwater Blonde - Swatch & Review!

When Urban Decay first announced their collaboration with musician Gwen Stefani, I wasn't all that excited. I like Gwen Stefani (especially when she was in No Doubt), and the products looked alright (particularly the packaging), but nothing really caught my attention. Nothing screamed 'BUY ME'. However! Near the end of the recent 21 Days Of Beauty at Ulta (...that's how long this has been sitting on my desk waiting to be blogged about...) all of the Gwen Stefani UD products went on sale (except the eye shadow palette). I considered getting the blush palette (I kind of regret not getting it since the colors are rather pretty), but I ended up purchasing the Brow Box in the color Bathwater Blonde.
I've never tried an Urban Decay Brow Box, nor have I really experimented with brow powder. I've heard good things about the UD Brow Boxes, but I could never justify spending $30 on them, especially since none of the colors looked totally right on me. This Brow Box, however, is not only an excellent match for me (it was made to match Gwen Stefani, who is also a platinum blonde), but it was on sale for $15.

April 2016 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month - Crazy Dog Lady - Indie Subscription - Unboxing & Review!

I love purchasing from indie companies; not only do you get the satisfaction of supporting an artists, but you can get some really unique and high quality items! One of my favorite indie cosmetic companies, Glamour Doll Eyes, even has a monthly subscription service called the Of The Month.
Last year, we got a Crazy Cat Lady Starter Kit themed Of The Month, and for April 2016, we got a Crazy Dog Lady Starter Kit!

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette - Swatch & Review!

First of all, I want to apologize in advance for this post. I know this palette has been hyped to death and every blogger and beauty guru ever has swatched and reviewed it and it's pretty much old news now. I also know that this palette has been very frustrating to get; the initial launch on Too Faced's website did not go as planned, and from then on, when ever this palette comes back in stock, it sells out almost immediately. And it's still sold out/selling out instantly. When I was looking for shade descriptions, this palette wasn't even listed on Sephora.com or Ulta.com; the only place I could find it was on the Too Faced website (and they don't have shade descriptions).
But I love makeup and I love talking about makeup, so I want to share my thoughts about this elusive, highly sought-after palette with you! Hopefully, as hype dies down and supply goes up (though, who knows, Too Faced might even be purposefully keeping these palettes scarce), more people will able to get their hands on this palette. I got super lucky and caught a restock on Sephora.com right before it was posted on social media, so it's not completely impossible to get this palette, it's just that the stars have to align perfectly...

My First Ever Colourpop Products! - Ultra Satin Lip in Marshmallow and Panda & Super Shock Shadow in Bae - Swatches & First Impressions!

I don't know why it's taken me this long to actually try a Colourpop product. I've heard nothing but good things about them, they have a wide array of colors, finishes, and products, and they're very affordable. The saddest part is that I didn't even but these myself; my wonderful, kind, generous friend  picked these out for me and purchased them with her most recent Colourpop order.
She bought me three products: two Ultra Satin Lip liquid lipsticks in Marshmallow and Panda and a Super Shock Shadow in the color Bae. Since Colourpop is so popular, plenty of other blogs have already talked about these products and colors, but I wanted to add my own thoughts to the mix.

April 2016 Birchbox - Spring Awakening - Unboxing & Review!

It's Birchbox time! ...actually, it was Birchbox time a long time ago and I'm only just getting around to blogging about it now...
For the second year in a row, Birchbox has paired with the Rifle Paper Co. (which is a weird name for a company) to celebrate the beginning of spring. The theme for April 2016 is Spring Awakening; if you've ever seen or read the play Spring Awakening, you'd feel as uncomfortable with that title as I do.

While I do love spring themes and collections both in fashion and in beauty, this Birchbox unfortunately fell a little short for me...

April 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag - Dreamers - Unboxing & Review!

I've sat here, staring at my computer, for a good ten minutes trying to figure out a witty way to start this post. And I can't. The best I can come up with is "Makeup! Subscription! Cheap! Good! Look!" and that's way more lame than I am comfortable admitting. SO...
Let's just jump on in and take a look at my April 2016 Ipsy Glam bag, before I end up insulting the intelligence of both of us even more with my poor writing skills. I'm pretty happy with what I got this month, especially compared with what I got in my Birchbox (which I will get a post up about shortly!).

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot - Dangerous Cuvée - Swatch & Review!

Finding MAC products on sale is like finding a dinosaur fossil in your backyard; rare, and most likely a hoax. One place where you can find legit MAC products on sale, however, is at a CCO! Lucky for me, there's not one, but two CCOs (Cosmetic Company Outlet) relatively nearby (they're in outlet malls, both of which are owned by the same parent company). At CCOs, you will find discontinued, old limited edition, and older stock of high end makeup/beauty brands like Tom Ford, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, and, yes, MAC (I'm pretty sure these CCOs are owned by Estee Lauder, since all the products sold there are from brands owned by them). I went to one of these outlets with a friend recently, and picked up a Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Dangerous Cuvée.
I'm not sure why it was there since it's a shade that is currently available on the MAC website, but I get the feeling it was overstock since there were so many available.

April 2016 Julep Maven - Brights + White - Unboxing & Review!

Out of all my subscriptions, I've been a Julep Maven the longest. Which is kind of funny, because I initially didn't even want to sign up because I couldn't justify a nail polish-centric monthly subscription. Julep has come a long way since then (as have I) and, thanks to features such as being able to skip a month and my new customizing abilities, I've been very happy to stick around.
For the month of April, Julep went with a Brights + White theme, with bright polishes that semi-sheer on their own but pop over a white base. This is not a revolutionary concept, but I do like Julep's version; they're like a hybrid between a tint and jelly. They even included a white polish for free with any of the new sheers, which was very considerate of them.

April 2016 Allure Beauty Box - Up Close and Personal - Unboxing & Review!

So many April subscription boxes to get through, so little time... Let's talk about the April 2016 Allure Beauty Box!
I've had some ups and downs with this box, but lately it's been all ups (and it seems like it will continue to be, especially if you've seen the spoilers for the May box)! While there are some products I'm not a big fan of, and there is an overall feel of 'discount beauty' to this box (this is hard to explain; a lot of these brands are mid-range, but they always seem kind of neglected in stores, both inventory and display-wise, like the line has been discontinued or something), overall this was a good, middle-of-the-road box.

April 2016 Target Beauty Box - Hello Sunshine! - Unboxing & Review!

Let's all ignore the fact that the May 2016 Target Beauty Box is coming out tomorrow morning and take some time to talk about the one for April 2016!
These Target Beauty Boxes keep getting more and more popular and are selling out faster and faster; I believe this box sold out by 9am PST. I understand why people love these boxes; you get a lot of products for only $5-$7, but I'm starting to wonder if it's less about the value and more about the thrill of snagging one of these boxes?

Unfortunately, this box is no longer available, but it gives a good idea of the sizes and types of samples featured in this sampler box.
