Sephora + Pantone Universe Correct and Conceal Palette in Light/Medium - Plus Algenist Color Correcting Drops - Swatch & Review!

Color correction in makeup is not a new thing; in fact, most beauty "trends" are not new. People have been correcting, contouring, baking, and strobing since the 1940's (if not even earlier; I've only seen it done in tutorials from as late as the 40's, but it could easily have existed before then and had just not been recorded). It is refreshing, though, to have so many color correcting products readily available!
For this post, I want to share with you guys some color correcting products I recently picked up from Sephora: specifically their Correct + Conceal Palette in Light and the Algenist Concentrated Color Correcting Drops in the color Apricot.

March 2016 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month - Unicorns! - Unboxing & Review!

I love indie cosmetics and the wonderful people who make them! You can find such a wide variety of products in colors and formulas that are not readily available from mainstream brands, either due to niche appeal or the use of more expensive and/or rarer ingredients. There are some very high quality products out there for even less than what you'd pay for mainstream products. Indie cosmetic companies even have their own subscription services, like the Of The Month from Glamour Doll Eyes!
A navy velvet bag of mystery! Hint: it involves unicorns!

March 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag - Hello Spring - Unboxing & Review!

March is always a difficult month for me; you'd think I'd be happy that it's March because it's the tail-end of my least favorite quarter of the year, but to combines everything I hate about all the seasons in one terrible month. Rain, snow, cold, damp, bugs; you name it, March has it. Which is why I'm always super happy to see spring palettes, themes, and collections start to pop up since they help take my mind off the horror that is March!
And seriously, how pretty and "springy" is the March Ipsy Glam Bag? I love this combo of hot pink and mint; it's very unexpected, but they complement each other nicely.
And the goodies inside are pretty awesome, too!

March 2016 Birchbox - Ready For Anything - Unboxing & Review!

Normally, I try to avoid spoilers for my subscription boxes as much as possible (with the exception of my Allure Beauty Box), but for the month of March, I decided to mix things up and go for the curated box, which includes no mystery what-so-ever.
Actually, I didn't like any of the sample choices and figured this looked like a pretty solid box, so I went with a box filled with things I know I will use instead of a box that I wasn't sure of. It's not the highest value box I've ever gotten from Birchbox, but it's still pretty good.

March 2016 Allure Beauty Box - Talking Dirty - Unboxing & Review!

The more $10-$15 subscription boxes I sign up for (and I'm up to five now, not including the Target Beauty Boxes...), the more I realize how different they all are from each other, and not just in terms of "retail value". Sure, some boxes tend to have more monetary value, but other boxes have better value in terms of reward programs, or in the types of products they include. The Allure Beauty Box, however, is proving to be a bit more complicated in that it keeps switching behind what "type" of box it is.
When I first signed up, it was because the monetary value of the box was so high. Then the value of box, both monetary and in usefulness, tanked for a couple months. Then Allure introduced a reward system to end all reward systems where they sent us some extra samples outside of the Beauty Box, including an entire extra box that also had a very high monetary value. Which was amazing.

So what type of box is the March box? What direction is the Allure Beauty Box headed?

March 2016 Target Beauty Box - Unboxing & Review!

With the wealth of $10 or less beauty boxes available now, it can be very hard to chose a favorite; they all have their pros and cons, and it all boils down to what you personally want in a beauty box. For this post, I want to share with you one of my favorite $10 (or less!) boxes: the March 2016 Target Beauty Box.
Look at all those goodies! The price of the Target Beauty Box varies from month to month (and box to box if there are more than one for a given month), and this month it was $7, which included shipping.

March 2016 Julep Maven - Lighten Up + Add-Ons - Unboxing & Review!

It's been a long time since I've gotten a Julep Maven box; Julep is very kind and let's you skip a month (or two, or three...) and stay subscribed if you're not feeling the products for that month. It's the reason why the Julep Maven program is the subscription service that I've been subscribed to the longest. There have been some changes to the service over the years, but, since I've been around so long, Julep has allowed me to keep things the way they are and pay the original price, $19.99 a month, instead of upgrading to the new service and paying $24.99 a month.

However! Starting this month, Julep has decided to reward long-time subscribers and let them upgrade to the new service (which allows you to completely customize your Maven box), while still paying the $19.99. So how could I resist getting my very first, fully customized Julep Maven box?
Obviously I couldn't, and I even went so far as to get three Add-Ons, along with an extra free item for doing so.

Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette - Swatches and First Impressions!

Remember when the internet was young and Albino Black Sheep was the cool place to be? If you do, you probably know what joke I'm restraining myself from making. If not, Google "It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time" and witness what passed for humor in ye olden times.
From the moment Too Faced announced this palette, I knew I needed it. I've come to love warm, orangey shadows since they work so well with my skin tone and eye color, and this little palette is packed full of them. Also look at how cute the box is. Seriously. Adorable.

This palette was inspired by the apparent social media sensation surrounding the shadow called Peanut Butter in the Semi-Sweet Chocolate palette (apparently I live under a rock because I was unaware of any such sensation, but I also don't own the Semi-Sweet Chocolate palette, so I probably just wasn't looking for it). It has the same delicious cocoa powder smell that the Chocolate palette shadows have and, even though some people say it also smells like peanut butter (it's a sweet chocolate scent, so I can see why), there are not actual peanuts in this product.

Super Small Shiro Cosmetics + Femme Fatale Order - Swatch & Review!

I'm a big fan of indie cosmetics companies; you can find some high quality, unique products for a very reasonable price. Indie companies are much more free to experiment with their formulas, scents, and colors and, while it's much more cost effective to mass produce certain items, I find that you're much more likely to find products made out of high quality, expensive, or rare ingredients when they're from small, handmade batches.

It's been quite a while since I've really purchased anything from an indie company, so I decided to check out one of my favorites, Shiro Cosmetics, to see if there was anything new. And there was!

The last time I purchased from Shiro Cosmetics, most of their products were eye shadows with a few face powders and lip glosses. They did carry some other brands, but not many. Now they carry a bunch of indie nail polishes, which I was super excited about since it can be difficult to get certain brands on indie nail polish due to shipping restrictions. I ended up purchasing a nail polish from Femme Fatale, two lip glosses (one for me, one for a friend), and some sample baggies of shadow (these were also for a friend).

February 2016 Allure Beauty Box - Extra Bonus Box! - Unboxing & Review!

Hello! I hope you're having a great day! I have an extra special Allure Beauty Box to share with you today; back in January, Allure sent out an e-mail saying that they were going to start sending Beauty Box subscribers extra samples, separate from the normal monthly box. The first bonus was a trio of deluxe sized samples that came in a white organza bag and a bubble mailer. The bonus samples this month came in their very own Beauty Box!

When Allure sent the e-mail about these bonus samples, they said we would be getting a Covergirl mascara, a SK-II face mask, and something from Wella.
I was pretty excited just for those three samples, so getting this whole box of goodies was a very pleasant surprise.

February 2016 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month - Means Girls - Unboxing & Review!

Hello! I hope you're having a great day! For this post, I want to share with you the February 2016 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month subscription.
I have a lot of guilty pleasures I like to indulge in (well, not a lot...), and one of those is watching the movie Mean Girls. I have no idea why, but I love that movie, and I know a lot of other people feel the same way. So I was pretty stoked to see that the February 2016 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month was Mean Girls themed! It's never explicitly stated as such, but pretty easy to infer.

February 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag - Pretty In #IpsyPink - Unboxing & Review!

Hello! I hope you're having a great day! I had a very long, drawn out opening talking about Valentine's Day and what-not, but I thought it would be better to just get to the point and show you guys what I got in my February 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag. Because that's really what you're here for.
The theme for February, as a subtle nod to Valentine's Day, is all things pink. Besides the Smashbox Primer Oil, which I think was the sample that almost everyone got this month, everything in my bag was pink!

Sugarpill Limited Edition Haul - Feral, Droplet, and...Trinket?!

Do like makeup? Do you love adorable packaging and unique colors? If so, you're probably already aware of the awesome, semi-indie cosmetics company, Sugarpill! If not, I highly recommend taking a moment and checking out their website and their products; you won't be disappointed (unless you only like neutrals, but even then they have some things to offer).
For this post, I want to share with you some limited edition items I purchased from Sugarpill. For IMATS (the International Makeup Artist Trade Show), Sugarpill created three limited edition items: two eyeshadows and a liquid lipstick. I was super sad that these were going to be limited to IMATS since they are all beautiful and I unfortunately could not go (I would love to go to IMATS one day, but I know they're trying to make it more of a professional even than a public one), but then Shrinkle (the creator of Sugarpill) announced that they were going to sell the left overs on the website. I was most excited about Trinket, the liquid lipstick, because the packaging (featuring artwork by Bei Badgirl) is stunning. I set my alarm, switched my lunch at work, and got ready for the mad dash to checkout when everything went up at 2pm in the Sugarpill store....

And then some things happened!

February 2016 Birchbox - What's The Occasion? - Unboxing & Review!

Hello! I hope you're having a great day! For this post, I want to share with you guys my February 2016 Birchbox.
The box is exceptionally cute this month; I love the minimalist, almost cartoony graphics, and I think it's pretty neat that they actually reflect what could be in your box (an OCC lip tar, the Arrow beauty products, etc.). A subtle touch, but it adds a sense of cohesiveness.

I missed out an sample choice this month because I forgot to do it right away (...), so everything in this box was a mystery to me.

February 2016 Allure Beauty Box - Unboxing & Review!

Ah, the Allure Beauty Box. We've had our (really high) ups and our (really low) downs, but after these last few boxes, I'm starting to think that we're on the road to becoming good friends. Or...something like that.
It has been a bumpy ride, and I have considered unsubscribing, but I'm happy I've stuck around since it seems like the quality and relevancy of the products selected has increased greatly. It also helps that Allure has been surprising us with special bonus samples, including a special extra box which I will talk about in a later post (but it's seriously awesome and I'm still dumbfounded at all the goodies they sent), which I feel makes the Allure Beauty Box more comparable to other similarly priced subscription box services that offer reward programs.

MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande Lipstick - Swatch & Review!

Unless you're very new to the beauty world (and it's totally okay if you are!), you are most likely aware of the Viva Glam lip product line from MAC Cosmetics. Every cent of the selling price from Viva Glam lip products goes towards helping the men, women, and child that are living with and/or are affected by HIV/AIDS, which is a very noble cause and good enough reason alone to purchase Viva Glam products, but MAC takes it one step further and partners with celebrities to come out with some pretty gorgeous colors! One of my first experiences with a MAC Viva Glam lipstick was the very first lipstick they collaborated with Lady Gaga on, and I regret to this day not actually purchasing it (I was young and penniless. Also it would have probably gone bad by now, but it's the principle of the matter).
The most recent Viva Glam lipstick, and the one I want to share with you today, is the Viva Glam Ariana Grande lipstick! Along with special promo images, celebrity collab lipsticks include their signature on the box and on the tube itself.

Velvet 59 - The Exotic Lotus Palette - Swatch & First Impressions!

Hello! I hope March is being kind to you; it can be such a touchy month, at least weather-wise. For this post, I want to share with you some swatches and my first impressions of the Exotic Lotus eye shadow palette by the brand Velvet 59.
While I do love trying new things, sometimes it can be difficult for me to justify a moderate purchase from a brand I've never heard of. Which is exactly what Velvet 59 was until I heard from Nouveau Cheap about a deal they were running on their Exotic Lotus palette (if you like good deals, I highly, highly recommend checking out Nouvea Cheap's blog and/or Instagram). A good deal, combined with the gorgeous design of this palette and the beautiful colors contained within, is what lead me to purchase this palette.

February 2016 Target Beauty Box - Unboxing & Review!

I'm sure it's no secret, especially if you've read almost any of my other posts, but I love beauty/makeup sampler boxes. Absolutely love them. To the point where I'm probably extremely spoiled by them and now have a really hard time justifying purchasing single, full sized items. If I could afford it, I would be subscribed to as many boxes as possible. Since I am not a millionaire (unfortunately), I try to be a little picky about my subscription services/sample boxes with regards to quality of samples and price.
One of the best drugstore sampler boxes I've found is the Target Beauty Box! These boxes range in price from $5 to $10, shipping included, and you always seem to get at least three times what you paid for in product value. The only downside is that these are not actually subscription boxes; it's not announced beforehand when they're going to go on sale (lately it's been on the first Monday of the month) and once they sell out, they're gone, so you have to be quick if you want one. But they are more than worth the hassle and, if they are something you're interested in getting, make sure to follow Nouveau Cheap since she always posts when the boxes go up.

For this post, I want to share with you my February 2016 Target Beauty Box. This box is no longer available, but it does give you an idea of what types of products, sample sizes, and values you can expect with these boxes.
