November 2015 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month - Awareness - Indie Subscription - Unboxing & Review!

Hello! Hope you're having a great day! For this post, I want to share with you my November 2015 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month.
Glamour Doll Eyes is one of my favorite indie cosmetic companies and was my first foray into the world of indie makeup! Glamour Doll Eyes (GDE) is everything you could want; great products, a wide variety of colors, and excellent customer service. Plus, you get the satisfaction of knowing that you're helping to directly support someone and their creativity. GDE also offers a special subscription service called Of The Month (OTM) which always includes a special eye shadow (the Of The Month, if you will). All the OTMs are themed and for November, it revolves around Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer Awareness (both are observed in the month of November).
I already started giving a run down on what the GDE OTM is, but I'll get a little more detailed. This subscription is a little different from my other ones; since it's by an indie company (and the owner, Vee, pretty much does everything by herself), it is very limited. Last I heard, there were only 120 spots available (which is impressive if, again, you consider that Vee does everything pretty much on her own). There is a waitlist for this subscription, but since people rarely cancel, spots don't open up very often. If you really like the OTM eye shadow, Vee usually lists some one offs that you can purchase without a subscription. but it's at full price, which is $6. The subscription costs $10 a month, and along with the OTM, you get extra goodies (the December OTM is going to be worth $50+ so...super excited about that)! Technically, this subscription costs $8, plus shipping, which varies since Vee will ship these internationally. For the US, shipping is $2, hence the $10.
Sorry for that wall of text; I just really want my posts to be as informative as possible and not require you to have read any others (plus, since this is such a limited subscription, I don't think as many people have heard about it as, say Ipsy or Birchbox). GDE OTMs generally come in these drawstring pouches, though there have been exceptions such as the evidence bag in October and a little stocking last December. This months bag is purple, which represents the color for Pancreatic Cancer awareness.
The charm for November (Vee threw in a charm in the January 2015 OTM bag and it was such a hit, she promised to try and include one with each OTM) is a silver awareness ribbon. I think this is an especially nice charm since it can represent any awareness ribbon. I'm still trying to find the perfect charm bracelet so I can wear all of mine at once!
As always, we got a GDE business card; I love these cards; they include all of Vee's contact info and, on the backs, are pictures of fellow GDE lovers! I love the community that GDE inspires; I highly recommend checking out the Facebook group. We also got a business card for Life's Entropy. I was really excited when I saw that Life's Entropy included some lip product samples because I've heard great things about them!
The info card for the GDE OTMs are always super informative and are designed each month to match the theme. They also include a special section called TMI (Try More Indie), which introduces you to a different indie cosmetic company each month, along with a special coupon code. Some codes are only to be used by OTM subscribers, but others are shareable. This months featured company is War Crumbles (which sounds awesome) and the coupon code they provided is shareable! If you're interested, go check them out, and, if you want to purchase anything, you can use the code CRUMBLESTMI for 20% through December 31st. Yay!

The info card this month also includes some information about Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer, as well as the color description and ingredients of the OTM shadow, Overrated Remix.
Since this is a full size shadow, the ingredients are also listed on the label, along with any safety information (as in this is not a lip safe color) and whether or not it is vegan (which this one is not).
The color is described as a "pinky purple with a strong green and copper shimmer" and it's a re-imagining of special gift with purchase color from a little bit ago called Overrated. This is a bit of a personal color for Vee since, if memory serves, she lost a loved one to Pancreatic Cancer and she created Overrated in their memory (if you're reading this, Vee, and I'm wrong, I'm sorry!)
Since these are loose pigments, you can use these dry, or you can foil them to increase pigmentation and intensity. I chose to swatch my shadows dry on bare, unprimed skin, to see what the bare minimum performance is like (because then it's nothing but better from there!). I really like the base color of this shade; sometimes these kind of colors can look a little bruisey on me, but this one does not! The shimmer is also very pretty; I like that it's more subtle.
On the back of the info card, we get info on the extra goodies, along with a sneak peek at next months theme. For December, the theme is going to be Romeo and Juliet! Plus, it looks like the title from the Baz Luhrmann movie, which is my favorite version of Romeo and Juliet. Very excited!
The first goodie is a second OTM shadow from GDE! This is But I Love Carbs and I believe it's the Diabetes Awareness shadow (Overrated being the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness shadow). Again, if I'm wrong, I'm sorry!
But I Love Carbs is described as a "medium gray with a metallic silver overlay finished off with a red & blue sparkle".
Again, these swatches are dry on bare, unprimed skin.  I included both since one shows off the silver better, while the other shows the sparkle better. At least I think so; these admittedly aren't the best swatches. But I promise that these are excellent colors (if you really want to see some GDE inspiration, people post their looks all the time to the Facebook group!).
The other shadow extra we got is the color Defy from Innocent+Twisted Alchemy (which is another indie company I hear a lot about but that I haven't purchased from).
Defy is described as a "mauve that has a bronze sheen and gold and green shimmers". This shadow also has a sifter, which is both a blessing and a curse. If you drop it, it won't spill everywhere, but it's also annoying to get enough product out.
Again, this is swatched dry on bare, unprimed skin. This shadow applied well and I really like the color!
The last extra goodie (technically, goodies!) that we got for November is a pair of Lip Theory lipstick samples from Life's Entropy!
The colors we got to sample are Big Bang Theory, a "dark vampy red with slight brown undertones" and Momentum, a "neutral royal purple".
These are liquid lipsticks (I don't know if that's their official description, but that's what they feel like to me), that are kind of like the OCC lip tars, but a little thicker. Unlike the lip tars, they kind of smell like cake! Which is a vast improvement on the mint of the lip tars (...I really don't like mint).
These colors dry down to a matte finish and they seem to be super pigmented! Even though these are just samples, they will last a long time since a little goes a long way.

And that's my November 2015 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month! I love this subscription service and I'm super excited for December's (my order just processed today, so hopefully it will be shipping out soon!). I am, however, on the fence about signing up for another year. You can cancel at anytime, and it's only $10 a month, but after a year of being subscribed, along with the shadows I myself have purchased, I have a lot of product sitting around waiting to be used. It might be better if someone new got to experience the awesomeness of this subscription service and all the joy it's brought me this year. We'll have to see what happens!

Thanks for reading! <3
