February 2015 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're all having a great day! Or a great generally existence, really. So deep. Anyways! I got my February 2015 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month  uh, a while ago now, and I wanted to share it with you!
If you're not familiar with the Glamour Doll Eyes (as always, GDE from this point on) Of The Month (OTM), it is a $10 a month indie beauty subscription service. You get a full-sized loose eyeshadow in a special color available in limited quantities (you get it in the bag along with other goodies or you can buy it individually for as long as supplies last) along with a few extras. It is a very sought-after subscription bag and unfortunately there are only about 120 spots open a month. If you're interested in getting this bag, you can go to the the OTM website (linked here and above as well) and enter the raffle for any spots opening up in March. I was lucky enough to snag a 6-month subscription, so I don't have to worry about fighting tooth and nail for my bag until June.
Look at all the fun stuff!

February 2015 Ipsy bag - #ipsyLove - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're having a good day (or night or whichever time of day you're reading this)! For this post, I want to share with you my February 2015 Ipsy bag!
After a couple months of disappointment and cancellation consideration, I was pleasantly pleased with this month's bag and the products I got. The theme this month, appropriately, is #ipsyLove. I know it's pretty cliched and almost tacky to have a love-theme for February, but sometimes I do really like cliche and cheesiness. There's something simple and comforting about it.

Ipsy is a $10 a month beauty subscription service that's pretty comparable to Birchbox. I personally am on #teamBirchbox right now; you don't get the same value of products (which in itself is debatable; a lot of the brands featured in Ipsy seem to over-inflate the values of their products) but it has a much better rewards system and I like that I can buy products from Birchbox and earn even more rewards. But Ipsy definitely has it perks, like often containing full sized products. I'm not sure if there's a waitlist currently (there was when I signed up, but I only had to wait a month), but I've heard if you use someone's referral link (like mine that I will place conveniently here) you can get off it much faster.

February 2015 Birchbox - Friendship - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're having a great day! Let's not mince words here and get right on into things. Also, I want to try just going right to the topic of my posts and not spending so much time on introductions (which I think I've tried to do before, but always felt weird about not including a greeting...I'm writing a bog post, not a letter, dangit!).

For this post, I want to share with you guys my February 2015 Birchbox! Birchbox is a $10 a month subscription service where you get about five beauty/lifestyle samples (I don't think you can get less than five, but I've gotten up to seven samples before). Unlike other subscription services, most things in Birchbox are going to be sample-sized, but it's the rewards system that makes it stand out as one of my favorites. I've heard people describe Birchbox as a kind of "beauty savings account", and I think that is very accurate; every month you can review the items you got in your box and earn points (at least 50, I've earned up to 70). There are also ways to earn points, such a referring someone (might as well throw my referral link in here...) or making purchases from the Birchbox store. For every 100 points you have, you get $10 to spend on anything you want in the Birchbox store. Which means every box basically costs you $5 (shipping included) as long as you promise to spend $5 in the store. Which is super easy to do since they carry a bunch of awesome brands and products, they constantly have discount codes available, and if a product/brand was featured in the box that month you get free shipping on it. Awesome.

How cute is this month's box?
The boxes are normally a kraft paper kind of brown, but I think Birchbox said that they're all going to be different designs and are collectible (or something...I don't pay attention to a lot of these things) this year.

February 2015 Julep Maven - Boho Glam Plus An Add-On! - Swatches and Review

Hello! Happy Valentine's Day! Or Happy Lupercalia, if you prefer! It's very cold here today and I have work (and am still feeling under the weather) so my husband and I probably won't do much besides maybe get some takeout and watch a movie. Which actually sounds much preferable to attempting to go out and do anything tonight (I hate crowds and while I like holidays, they kind of irritate me since it means everyone is trying to do the same thing at once. It's why I much prefer having days off other than Saturday or Sunday; nothing like going to the Mall on a Wednesday afternoon).

I thought it would be semi-festive to make a post about my February 2015 Julep Maven box today! ...also it was the last thing I needed to make a post about from my last batch of videos, so there's that.
I wasn't too excited about the colors in the February collection, but I had enough Jules to get another polish for free and everyone who got a box this month was also going to get a free topcoat called Hartleigh. I'm probably not going to get the March box, unless the colors and/or product really wows me.
Look at all the neat stuff for $20!

Mini Haul! - Urban Decay, Ouidad, Essie, & MAC!

Hello! Hope you're having a great start to your Valentine's Day weekend! I've been feeling under the weather so I'm not doing anything too exciting, but that's okay since hanging out at home with my husband sounds like a pleasant way to spend a weekend.

For this post, I have a mini haul for you guys; I picked up a few things here and there and instead of letting them atrophy on my desk while I try and build up a bigger haul, I decided to just go ahead and make a haul video.

I kind of want to get away from doing straight hauls; I feel like I don't have enough time to really talk about the things I got and what I do (or don't) like about them. I do really like watching haul videos, but I also like videos that are more in-depth (instead of just "I got this and then this and this and this thing too"). I feel like my earlier videos (and possibly blog posts) were more detailed like that and it's something I want to try and get back to.

Which is also why you've probably seen one or two of these items before, specifically my Urban Decay Vice LTD palette.

My First My Pretty Zombie Cosmetics Order - Indie Makeup! - Swatches and Review

Hello! I hope you're having a great start to the Valentine's Day weekend! I, sadly, have been quite ill this week and I'm still not feeling well (I actually started antibiotics today...). I've been neglecting a lot of things these last few days, but now I'm feeling antsy so I thought I'd try to write a blog post or two.

Somehow, I managed to skip over my first My Pretty Zombie Cosmetics order! I like to make blog posts that correspond to the order in which I post Youtube videos, but I must have overlooked my My Pretty Zombie (MPZ from here on out) video when I was glancing over my channel summary (...I am forgetful sometimes). Which is especially unfortunate because MPZ is pretty awesome!

MPZ is another indie cosmetic company that I initially glanced over during one of my Instagram exploration sessions (just look up #indiecosmetics or #supportindie and you can find some neat things), but I finally decided to order after Evolution Of A Foodie posted a review (if you're into indie cosmetics, I highly recommend looking through her reviews!). And, once again, I am very happy with my first order!
If I were to compare MPZ to a mass-produced brand, I'd say it's most similar to Urban Decay. Except possibly even better! And yes, that severed thumb came in my package.

My First Aromaleigh Cosmetics Order! - Indie Makeup! - Swatches and Review

Hello! Hope you're having a great day! I really need to stop opening with that line, but I don't know what else to say! It feels weird to not say anything and just jump into things, but maybe that would be preferable? Hmm, perhaps this is something I need to experiment with.

For this post I want to share with you guys my first Aromaleigh Cosmetics order!
Aromaleigh is another indie cosmetics company that I first heard of from the blog, Evolution Of A Foodie. It is also the oldest (at least to the best of my knowledge) independent cosmetics company I have purchased from; from their "about" page: "Founded in 1998, Aromaleigh is an indie cosmetics company located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina, handcrafting mineral cosmetics for patrons who “have a lot on their minds”.
So that's 16 years of making cosmetics, and that experience shows! Evolution Of A Foodie had a lot of great things to say about the quality of Aromaleigh's shadows, and I definitely have to agree!

Polish Pusher January 2015 Haul - Indie Nail Polish!

Hello! Hope you're having a great day (or night or life in general, really)! I have another indie nail polish haul to show you guys! A couple weeks ago Polish Pusher, a local, Minnesota-based indie nail polish maker, posted a special code on her Instagram that would give you free shipping with a $25+ order. I'm a sucker for free shipping and, after being so pleased with my first order, I just needed an excuse to purchase a couple more polishes that I had my eye on.
I grabbed three of her full-sized polishes: Topaz In The Tropics, Urban Legend, and Howling At Moons.
Kati, the owner of Polish Pusher, ships all product s in glass bottles in cardboard boxes and each bottle of polish came wrapped in it's own little bubblewrap baggie so everything arrived safe and sound!

Urban Decay Vice LTD - Limited Edition - Swatches and Review!

Hello! Hope you're all having a great day! As I always say, Mondays are like my Fridays; the only downside is that nothing really fun happens on Monday nights... Granted, I'm getting old and basically becoming a hermit anyways, but it's the idea that there's nothing fun going on that bothers me. If that makes sense. Hmm.

In this post, I wanted to take an in-depth look at the newish Urban Decay Vice LTD palette!
This palette had a very limited release on the Urban Decay website and a lot of people missed out on it, but surprisingly, it's now available exclusively at Ulta. I was worried it would be just as limited at Ulta as it was on the UD website, but that does not seem to be the case.

I dithered on whether or not to pick up this palette since the online swatches I saw didn't really thrill me, but then I saw it in person and I decided to get it.
Ooh, pretty!
