Kind-of-Late Fortune Cookie Soap Fall 2014 Soap Box - Unboxing and First Sniffs

Hello! Hope you're having a good, relaxing weekend! I know a lot of you have a long weekend due to the holiday, but I also know that a lot of you do not. I'm glad I have the extra time, but I do miss when I worked a more flexible schedule and had my days off in the middle of week; things are less busy then and I feel much more relaxed when I'm out shopping or at an event. My husband and I did end going to the State Fair today and it was nuts. I almost wish I had stopped to take a picture of the sea of people, but I didn't want to be rude and block traffic (like the other people who stopped to take pictures...)

For this post, I'm going to show you guys what I got in my Fall 2o14 Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Box! I'm...pretty sure anyone who's interested has already seen all they wanted to see about the Fall Soap Box since mine came late. There was an issue with the shipping of my box and I have no idea where my original box ended up, but Fortune Cookie Soap was kind enough to not only ship me out a new box, but they also gave me a $5 discount code for my trouble! Fortune Cookie Soap has great customer service and I really appreciate the time they took to help me out.
So obviously, this season's box is Wizard of Oz themed. I was initially kind of worried since I harbor a strong dislike for the Wizard of Oz (I was in a play once, as a munchin/winkee. I got nothing but Wizard of Oz themed presents for like four years afterwards), but the products are mostly Wizard of Oz related in name alone.
I love the info card graphic; very bright and bubbly and unexpected for Fall! I really appreciate companies who do Fall collections that aren't Autumn since I'm not a big fan of Fall. I love the food and candy, but I hate the cold and colors.
The inside of the card lists all the products and scent descriptions for the items in this season's box. There are eight items and you got one of four different scents of Whipped Cream body butter. Overall, I'm super excited about this collection! It's definitely a "Fall" collection, but it doesn't fall back on what's expected; granted, there are some apple and pumpkin scents, but they mesh well with the rest of the collection and everything just seems to go together. On the back of the info card is my $10 off unique coupon code, so I'm not showing that off. At least, not until I use it.

Now for the items in this seasons box! I'm going to go in the order they are listed on the info card. So I'l start with the Fortune Cookie Soap namesake, the Fortune Cookie Soap!
It's ruby-red and glittery in homage to the ruby slippers, which were actually silver in the book since the it's actually an allegorical story for the gold standard versus using paper money. Neat. This scent is called "There's No Place Like Home" and it smells like apple cider. It's described as "curled Macintosh apple peels lovingly kissed with a hint of cinnamon, allspice, and clove" and unfortunately, it's my least favorite scent in the box. I'm just not a fan of apple-base scents. Not sure why, since I love eating apples.
I love these OCD hand sanitizers! I have a bunch of these at work, and my boss likes to swing by my desk and see what new scents I have to try out. He really liked the "Daily Bread" scent from the Hunger Games collection. This scent is described as a "full spectrum of bright citrus notes and florals against a cool fall background. Dusky breezes and bonfires, wind-blown leaves and charred woods brightened by notes of lemon, mandarin, cotton blossom, and soft vanilla". It smells like a "fresh linen" or cotton to me, though it can be difficult to get the full effect of a scent in a hand sanitizer because of the alcohol. I'm not a fan of fresh scents, so this one isn't for me, but if you dig those fresh laundry kind of scents, this one is worth a sniff.
There were four different scents of Whipped Cream body butter (I'm not going to go too in-depth here since I talk about it all the time, but this is the best body butter I have ever used. Ever. If you buy one thing from Fortune Cookie Soap, buy a Whipped Cream body butter) and I ended up with the one I think I'd like the most! I got "Green is the New Black" and it's described as "sweet pumpkin pie filling with the perfect touch of cinnamon, ginger, and brown sugar finished with a generous dollop of whipped cream". It smells like pumpkin pie. Is it unique? No, but it doesn't need to be! I love how this smells and I love smelling like pumpkin pie (also, based on a survey, one of the sexiest scents to men is pumpkin). The other scents are "BFFs" which is blueberries and pumpkin and, while that might sound weird, I have a Bath and Body Works candle that's pumpkin and blueberries and it's amazing; "No Good Deed" which is "pumpkin puree, ground cinnamon, Vermont maple syrup, rum, french vanilla, and caramelized sugar - it does sound good, but it might be a little too sweet for me; and "Wicked Good" which is is "top notes of orange, apple, pear, pineapple, and cherries lured into autumn by pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, all rounded-out with vanilla infused sugar" and...that sounds intense. And delicious. I'm definitely curious to try it out, but again, I'm worried it might be too sweet or too over the top. I'm just super happy with my "Green is the New Black". "Swankified" Walnut Facial Scrub looks kind of sketchy since it came with a label, but I assume it's because Fortune Cookie Soap had to make my box from what they had left over so perhaps they didn't have any left! This is another facial scrub, like the Lemon Drop It Like It's Hot from the Candy Aisle collection. I do like the scrub, but it leaves a film on my skin, which is something I don't like in scrubs. This stuff smells amazing, though, and this might be the scent I get a full sized body butter in. It's described as "bunches of ripe bananas mashed into sweet, sugary cake batter, then topped with walnuts and baked to a golden brown". Yes. All the yes. Actually, I don't like walnuts in my baked goods, but that's more of a texture issue. Also, I really like how this is a banana-centric scent in a Fall collection and that it doesn't seem out of place.
I always worry that I'm going to get a lot of bath-only products in my Soap Boxes; I'm kind of a germaphobe so I can't take a bath in a tub without cleaning it first and I'm lazy so...I never get to the "cleaning it first" part. Luckily, there is only on product in this seasons box that's bath-specific and it's the "Miss Popular" bubble bath powder. This is a very intriguing scent; it's "sweet honey nectar shamelessly flirting with touches of star anise, star jasmine, sweet orange, and blushing violet. It's a very sweet, floral scent it smells ridiculously girly.
Another sketchy, label-less bottle, though I think everyone's came this way since even the picture of it on the info card shows it as just a white bottle. This is also a brand new product from Fortune Cookie Soap: hair oil! I'll have to check the ingredients list online to see if there's any argan oil in it, but it smells amazing; it's "sweet hazelnut woven throughout rich, buttery vanilla cream". Delicious. And simple!
Another banana-themed scent! I have a love-hate relationship with banana scents/flavors, but I'm really digging it as part of this collection. This is the "Flying Monkeys" (I really, really wanted to be a flying monkey in the play I was in because I thought the costumes were so cool, but I was way too small; I was around 10-11 years old and the monkeys were played by 15-16 year olds) Personal Space Air Freshener and it is described as a "fruity, breezy blend of peach, watermelon, neroli, and jasmine with air and aquatic notes...[with] fresh, ripe bananas". It's such a unique scent, and even though it has a lot going on, it just seems to work!
I apparently forgot to take a picture of this last product, but you can kind of see what the sample-size bottle looks like at the very bottom of the info card. This is "The Shiz" perfume oil, and this is another unique, complex fragrance that is amazing. This is a very unisex perfume and it reminds me of Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb (which I believe is technically a male fragrance, but I like to wear it so to me it's unisex). It's described as a "woodland hike through damp, balsam woods, with top notes of maple leaves blowing through new dawn blossom, laurel, and sweet clove". From the description, I would not have thought I would like this scent as much as I do; normally I'm not a "woodsy" person, but it's more "spice" to me. It's a really great perfume and I can't wait for the weather to get cooler to wear it.

And that's my Fall 2014 Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Box! It was a little late, but it was totally worth it!

Thanks for reading! <3
