Fortune Cookie Soap Spring 2014 Soap Box - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Whew, I'm marathon posting again so I'm kind of running out of things to say in these little intro paragraphs! (Edit: I am completing this post 10 days after starting it. I don't even know.) How likely do you guys think it is to get a fake eyeshadow palette from an Ulta? Not very, right? I ask because I recently picked up the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette (because I am a sheep. Also, chocolate) from Ulta and I don't know if mine is a dud or what... The colors just don't seem to swatch very well and are very powdery and get everywhere! When I first brought it home, I thought one of the colors looked used (it had a swipe on it and the texture pattern was flattened) but I brushed it off as a shipping issue. Because I am incredibly paranoid, I started to feel like yes, someone had touched my palette, but that going all the way back to Ulta to exchange it was too bothersome (it's definitely a quest in this weather). I sprayed it with alcohol, brushed off the top layer, and called it sanitized. Soon, however, I started to get the feeling and ANOTHER one of the shadows looked used and that one I sprayed and scrapped as well. Then I started to notice other faults, like glue leaking in the top right corner, and now I just don't know...

I swatched all the colors for the first time, and I have to say, I'm not very impressed. A lot of them seem very, very powdery and dusty and they don't have a lot of color payoff (especially the glittery ones; Gilded Ganache, Black Forest Truffle, Candied Violet, and Cherry Cordial. Strawberry Bon Bon has poor color payoff as well). I don't want to bring it back because I am lazy and the palette's been clearly used by me, but I can't shake the feeling that mine is inferior somehow. And I was so excited for it to...

Uh, but that is not at all what this post is supposed to be about and I am sorry I went off on a tangent like that! This is about the Spring 2014 Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Box!
A box filled with springtime-scented goodies!

February 2014 Blush Mystery Beauty Box - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! We're getting so close to spring now I can almost taste it! Things are warming up and it looks like we've finally reached the tipping point where it stops being winter (this can get muddled; I think last year we had snow in April). The only downside to spring is that, with warmth, comes the melting of the ridiculous amounts of snow we have piled everywhere (seriously, it's kind of scary in some places). It sounds like it's going to be a very wet spring, which is terribly annoying, but honestly, anything is better than more bitter cold and snow.

I'm falling behind again on getting these posts up, but this time I have the excuse that I had to go on a business trip to Jersey and that work has been kind of crazy. With the warmer temps, people are finally able to leave their houses so we've had an influx of things to do. My biggest goal is to get these posts up before I get the box for the next month; the March 2014 Blush Mystery Beauty Box has already shipped, so I have precious little time to get this up (which is my own fault, really...). I also like to wait until I've been able to try most, if not all, of the products I get in these subscription boxes, but I haven't found myself really reaching for anything in my box this month (which is not to say that I don't like these things; I just have so much stuff to use that I kind of forgot it was sitting there...).
Yay, overexposed picture of my bag!

Ipsy February 2014 - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! So...I'm pretty over winter, how about you guys? I'm just so sick of below 0°F temperatures (not just below freezing, but more than 32°F below zero) and snow and horrible icy, dangerous roads. I know I haven't posted in a very long time, and I do apologize. I've been in the grip of winter blahs and had to make a business trip to New Jersey for two days. I have a lot of videos, too, that I need to be making, but I need to wait for when my husband is at work since I'm oddly self-conscious about making videos in front of real people. Weird, I know.

But enough about my boring, ice-rimed life! This post is about my Ipsy bag for February 2014! I was pretty excited for this bag; not because of what I could have possibly gotten in it (I never look at the spoilers, I want to be completely surprised. Especially since I can't change what I get anyways so what's the point; I feel like you only end up disappointed if you don't get what you were hoping for) but because it's the bag for February! Which means Valentines! And pink! And hearts! And all that silly mushy stuff that people on Facebook like to posts statuses about and how much they hate it and that it's all commercialized garbage. Which it is. But who cares? PINK! HEARTS! CANDY!
Did my bag live up to my expectations? Let's find out!
