Urban Decay - Vice 3 Palette - First Impressions and Swatches!

Hello! I am marathoning blog posts today! I hope it's not too overwhelming; I always feel weird posting a ton of Youtube videos at once, but I think it's different with blog posts (I don't think there's anyone who gets notified when I make a new post, so I'm not inadvertently blowing up someone's inbox or anything).

I wanted to take a more in-depth look at the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette I recently purchased. I'm pretty late to game with this palette, and I'm actually kind of surprised I was still able to get one easily since I think the other Vices sold out pretty quickly. This palette has been reviewed and swatched to death already, but I loved it so much, I wanted to contribute my thoughts as well. I've used this palette a good amount of times now, so this will be more of a review than just a first impressions, but since I haven't used all the shades yet, it's not a complete review.
I actually did a video about my legit first impressions/first time swatching this palette if you're interested in seeing that. ...my nose gets kind of shiny near the end which is a little embarrassing, but I rarely if ever do true first impressions since I like to take pictures before I make videos so I wanted to leave it as is.

Pre-Christmas 2014 Haul! - Sephora, Urban Decay, and More!

Hello! Hope you're having a good day! I have a lot of  things to show you guys, so the area around my desk is super cluttered and. Not fun. I'm kind of a klutzy person, too, so...that just makes it worse!

I ended up buying some neat things before Christmas (I know, I know...I feel like all No-Buys, tentative or not, fly out the window in the face of holiday sales) and I wanted to share them with you! Some of these deals may be still available, though some are unfortunately not (I think you can still buy most of this stuff, deal or not).
This was another video I tried experimenting with my lighting and, again, it turned out not the greatest, so I do apologize. I'm going to post photos of pretty much everything, so if you can't see something too well in the video, you can see it here.

December 2014 Glamour Doll Eyes OTM - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're all still having a great holiday season! The New Year is coming up fast and then it'll be boring again for a few months. And cold. Don't forget cold. We ended up with a brown Christmas, which is lame since the only really acceptable time for there to be a ton of snow on the ground is Christmas. It snowed like the day after and it looks and feels like winter around here again and it's like, why couldn't that have happened a few days sooner? Sad.

For this post, I want to show you guys the December 2014 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month (OTM from here on out)! I missed when these initially went up and was pretty bummed about it, but Vee had a few extra that she put up and I was able to snag one! It was meant to be, I think.

I do have a video about this OTM, but I was trying out some new lighting and...it didn't turn out so well, so it might now be the most informative to watch. I do have pictures of what I got plus swatches, so you'll be able to see how pretty everything is!
Bubble mailers have become one of my most favorite things!

December 2014 Ipsy Bag! - Thinking Of You - Unbagging and Review!

Hello! It's hard to believe today is already Christmas Eve! There are two "seasonal time markers" in my life; my birthday in July and Christmas, and it seems like my birthday was only a month or two ago. It's very true that the older you get, the faster time goes by. Which is a little frightening, honestly.

So...that was kind of a weird way to introduce this post, but this is going to be my December 2014 Ipsy unbagging! I've been with Ipsy for over a year now and while I'm still enjoying it, I am starting to feel a little of that "1 Year Itch" I seem to get with subscription services.
You can watch my video on Youtube, or you can click below to keep reading and see what I got!
Ah, the ubiqutious metallic hot pink mailer. Love it.

December 2014 Birchbox - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're all having a great holiday season! We're in the final few days before Christmas, so things are pretty crazy around here. I am feeling a little worn out, but today at least I get to relax and recover a bit.

And I get to make blog posts! I want to share with you guys what I got in my December 2014 Birchbox! This is my third (I think) box now and I'm still enjoying the service. It may not have as great of samples as other boxes, but the rewards program and the Birchbox store are pretty awesome.
You can watch my video here, or click below to keep reading!
How cute is this mailing box? Very.

Black Friday(ish) Haul! - Birchbox, Ulta, & More!

Hello! Hope you're having a good Monday (or whatever day it is when you read this). We're getting close to Winter holidays (are some already happening? I'm not too sure...) so I hope you're also staying happy and sane.

For this post, I have some things I want to share with you from Black Friday and beyond. Unfortunately, some of these deals are no longer available, but a lot of the products themselves still are, so I feel like this is still something worth sharing. Plus, I want to clean up my desk per usual.
I actually got some neat stuff and I even made my very first order from Birchbox (besides the subscription box)! Feel free to check out my video if you'd rather hear me say words, otherwise click below!

Memebox Superbox #71 - My Cute Wishlist 4 - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're all having a safe and sane holiday season! It's getting kind of crazy out there, and I think it's starting to wear on people.

For this post, I want to show you guys what I got in my Memebox Superbox #71 My Cute Wishlist 4! This is one of the more popular types of Memeboxes, though people have been a bit disappointed in numbers 2 and 3 (My Cute Wishlist #1 was pretty awesome, though!). Like many people, I love cute things, and I missed out when this box first went up since it went so quickly. I had a bad day (issues with the dentist, mostly) and was feeling kind of down, so I told myself that if, when I checked next it was in stock, I would buy it. And it was and I did!
I made a video about this box which I have embedded here because technology is pretty cool like that, but if you want to keep reading and see some more close-up pics of what I got, then click below!
A slightly different pink box this time...

Sephora VIB & Ulta Haul! - Dermalogica, OPI, Burt's Bees, and More!

Hello! Hope you're all having a great start to December! Hard to believe we're already here and so close to the winter holidays and the new year. I wish that that also meant we were almost done with winter, but alas, we'll probably have to put up with it until at least March.

Once again I find myself behind the times when it comes to getting my blog posts up, and I really have no excuse. I didn't even do anything for Thanksgiving (seriously; we were going to try and get Chinese food but the place we go to was closed and we have the sneaking suspicion that it's closed for good which is extremely depressing) and Black Friday ended up being pretty chill.

I think I'm over my NoBuy since I have a regular paycheck again, but I do still want to try and keep my spending down since I really, really don't need any more makeup. Probably ever. I especially do not need any more nail polish. I asked for a nail polish rack for Christmas and, if I end up getting it, I'm going to limit my polish collection to what will fit on the rack. It's one of those 120+ bottle racks so...I should be good on that front.

That being said, I have a haul! I got a bunch of stuff from Ulta and the Sephora VIB sale (I actually only got one thing from the VIB sale) since I got my first paycheck!
Ulta had a lot of fun gift sets and sales and Sephora VIBs got 20% off pretty much everything and they have a nail polish that I basically needed.

November 2014 Ipsy Bag - Girl Meets Glitter - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! It's another "sunny-but-stupidly-cold" day, but I don't have to leave my house so...I suppose I can deal with it. I took another nap in the sun this morning and it was amazing; if you've never tried it, I highly recommend it. I had a weird dream, though, where I was cuddling with a Charizard and it's tummy was warm and soft and a great place to nap. I love napping with pets; I really miss being able to nap with my kitty. He lived at my parents' house since our apartment doesn't allow pets. Sadly, he passed away in September. He had a stroke which paralyzed his entire left side and left him blind, so we had to put him down. It was very sad, but he was 18 and had had a very happy and love-filled life with me and my parents and that's really all one can ask for.

Sorry, didn't mean to get sad, there. I don't think I talked about it before, though I did mention it in passing in previous posts and I finally feel able to talk about it. So. There's that. ANYWAYS.

Moving on to happier topics; my November 2014 Ipsy bag! My bag got to me pretty late this month; it was supposed to be here on the 14th, but it took an epic journey down to Wichita, KS due to an "incorrect address and/or zip code" according  to USPS but I think they just missorted it. It got to me safe and sound about 5 days later, so it all worked out in the end.
I heard that some people got different colored mailers this month? I was expecting to see something different, but I got the standard metallic pink bubble mailer.
Like always, I made a video! If you don't feel like reading, you can watch it here, otherwise click below to see what I got!

November 2014 Birchbox - Giving - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're having a great Wednesday! It's cold but the sun is shining which kind of feels like nature is lying and messing with us. I hate it when it looks bright and sunny and then you go outside and your face hurts. I do like the bright and sunny part, though. Days like this I usually end up napping in the sun in front of our patio doors because I am apparently a cat. Who knew.

I got my November 2014 Birchbox this weekend and I wanted to share it with you guys! I love watching/reading subscription box unboxings, but I tend to avoid the ones that I know I'm going to be jealous of, if that makes sense. It probably doesn't and when I tried to explain it, it made even less sense, so I'm going to leave it at that.

I went with the "standard" Birchbox this month; there was an option to get a special box that was curated by Buzzfeed, but since I love surprises, I went with the normal box. I did get to pick one of my samples, though!
Ah, delicious point-and-click video embedding. This is why I will never, ever get the hang of HTML no matter how hard I try.
Fancy (RED) box!

Super-Duper Little Ulta and Sephora, Uh, Haul!

Hello! It always feel so good to get my desk clutter picked up! If you've been following my vlog, you'll know that I've been on a NoBuy for about a month now due to my changing jobs and needed to scale back my spending on pretty much everything. I have a good "nest egg" of makeup, so I had no need what-so-ever to purchase any more. I thought it would be harder to be on a NoBuy, especially with all the holiday goodies and deals, but it's been pretty smooth sailing. If I see something I like, all I have to do is think about the one (or two or even three) things I have that are basically the same.

That being said, I did make a few purchases. So I guess I technically failed my NoBuy, but I'm okay with that since I feel like I made good choices and I didn't completely blow things out of proportion. With discounts, coupons, points, etc, this whole haul was about $20. It's pretty little, but I did want to show you guys because otherwise I don't really have anything to talk about. Which is kind of sad, actually.
Also, I am seriously loving how easy it is to embed videos. Normally, I hate when my accounts are all connected, but this makes things really convenient.

October 2014 Glamour Doll Eyes Order!

Hello! It has been a minute! A very, very, weeks long minute. At least I think it's been a couple weeks; I might be exaggerating that in my head. Time is pretty relative. With my No-Buy and the lull in subscription boxes, I haven't had much to talk about! Well, I have had a lot to talk about, but nothing really blog-related.

So it's time to get back into things and finally get my desk cleared up again! (FINALLY). Even though I've been on a No-Buy, I knew I was going to try and buy some of the limited edition pigments from the Glamour Doll Eyes Halloween collection for 2014. I wasn't able to get any of the Halloween collection, but I did get something else I was waiting for that just happened to come back in stock at the same time!

I'm going to experimentally try and embed my video. I do apologize if this causes any unnecessary sluggishness for those on their phones or other slower internet connection.
Haha, wow, I forgot that my Youtube account was connected to my Google+, which in turn is connected to my Blogger account. And I just had to click one button to embed it. Nice.
So many fun things!

October 2014 Birchbox - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! It has been a time! A long time. Not that long, actually, in the whole scheme of things, especially considering that the whole of human existence is pretty much meaningless when compared with the timeline of the Earth. Not even going to get into our insignificance when you take the whole universe into account...

ANYWAYS. This is about existential crisis-es; it's about my October 2014 Birchbox (nice transition, no? Probably no...). This is my very first Birchbox and I am...warily excited about it. I know this is a love-hate kind of subscription service; some people think it's the best thing ever and some people rage-quit after the first couple boxes. It's a lower-priced sample service/subscription box at $10 a month, shipping included, and you generally get five sample products. It's a very. very rare thing to get a full size and a lot of the samples are super teeny-weeny. Like, one-use teeny-weeny. BUT. Birchbox also has a really awesome rewards system; you review every item you get (kind of like Ipsy) but for every 100 points you get to spend $10 in the Birchbox store (which has a ton of stuff in it) so it's kind of like $5 a box and then you get $5 to spend in the store (but you can only spend points in $10 increments). I found a deal (not sure if it still works, but I got it off of Retail Me Not, which is a great place to look for coupon/discount codes) where I got 100 bonus points on sign up, so...my first box was kinda-sorta free!
I really dig the Birchbox logo. Is that weird?

Memebox - Superbox #59 Halloween Special - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! We're on a roll here with getting posts, uh, posted! ...I actually needed a break from crocheting so I'm more than happy to work on these posts. I have a craft fair coming up (my first ever!) and I've been making as many things as possible, but it can be very wearing on my body, especially my right arm. It's starting to ache and randomly tingle and...pretty sure that's a bad thing.

I got another Memebox! I ordered this at the same time as my first Memebox, the Thumbs Up! one, but it didn't ship out until October 8th (which was two days sooner than it said it would ship, so that's pretty awesome). I got my box on  the 18th, so ten total days in shipping isn't too bad, especially for cheap shipping from Korea.

I was both excited and...not concerned, but. Hmm. What's a good word? Excited but anxious? No. I don't know how to say it in a succinct manner. I was excited for this box, but I was also kind of worried about what might be in it and how useful the products would be since it's a Halloween box. Overall, I think this box turned out pretty great and useful!
Seriously, how cute are these boxes? There is a product in there that's almost too big for the box! ...it has some pretty intense packaging, which you'll see later on.

October 2014 Ipsy Bag - Unbagging and Review!

Hello! We're going to knock out as many blog posts as we can today (...I don't know where this royal "we" thing is coming from) because my desk is getting crazy cluttered and I need to get things organized and cleaned up.
Pink mailer of destiny! ...or surprise makeup and beauty samples. It's like the same thing.

October 2014 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month! - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! It...has been a while. Haha, I don't even think I have any good excuses anymore, though I have been super busy crocheting like mad in preparation for a craft fair this weekend! I'm very excited for it since this will be my first actual craft fair (and not an Artist Alley, which I feel is a whole different animal). The sale is to benefit a non-profit organization, and specifically to raise money to build a new dog park! I love animals and anything I can do to help support them (...and myself; my vendor fee for this event is considered a donation towards the park, but I still get to sell things and make money) is awesome! I always more than willing to donate money towards things that will benefit animals or libraries. Priorities.

ANYWAYS. For this post, I'm going to show you guys what I got in my October 2014 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month (OTM from here on out)! This was another awesome month, though I am a little depressed that this was the last month of my subscription so, come November 8th (actually, it looks like it will be November 7th since the 8th is a Saturday), well, let the games begin.
Spooky black mailer for a spooky month!

October 2014 Blush Mystery Beauty Box - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're having a great day (I feel weird saying that three posts in a row so close together...)! For this post, I want to show you guys what I got in my October 2014 Blush Mystery Beauty Box! This is kind of a special box for me since I decided that this would be the "make-or-break" box; depending on what I think about this box, I'm going to decided whether or not to unsubscribed from the Blush Mystery Beauty Box.

Let's just say things don't start off on the best foot...
It's a bag in a box!

Mini Haul! - Sally Beauty Supply and Fortune Cookie Soap!

Hello! Hope you're having a great day! I have a super, duper mini-haul for this post! It's so small, in face, that I am considering not even doing a jump cut (during a journey back through my blog, I've decided that it does, indeed, warrant a jump cut). In a video I made about this haul, I talk about possibly going on a No-Buy due to a career transition and a desire to save some money. After all, I don't really need most of the things I buy. ...or do it?

I'll start with what I got at Sally Beauty Supply!

October 2014 Julep Maven - It Girl - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're all having a great day! It's nice and sunny out here, but it's getting colder every day, so the sun kind of feels like a cruel joke...I am not prepared for winter. Never am, never will be.

For this post, I want to show you guys what I got in my October 2014 Julep Maven box! I went with the It Girl box this month because the product on offer were two different colors of lip gloss and...I don't need any more lip gloss. Ever. Because I am stubborn and am still a "classic" Maven, I pay $19.99 a month for an uncustomizable box, instead of the $24.99 for the customizable one. I just can't bring myself to pay the extra $5 for an already fairly pricey, nail polish-centric subscription box.
CANDYCORN.

Haul Time! - Ulta, Kohl's, Mally, and More!

Hello! One final post for today and my desk area will be clean and everything will be put away! Well, except for the nail polish I just bought...it's a never-ending cycle.

This is actually a smaller haul; I got a couple orders from Ulta in because they said I could have free shipping and you better believe I took advantage of that and...I think everything else I actually got on sale. Hmm. I like sales.
This is the only bag/box shot I have, so I'll start with what I got from Mally Beauty!

Memebox #52 Thumbs Up! Beauty Box - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Do you love mysteries and surprises? Asian beauty products? Getting things in the mail? Then have I got something perfect for you! Actually, I'd be surprised if you like those things and haven't heard of Memebox yet.

Memebox is a Korean "kind-of-subscription" service that has an English website and ships globally! People call it a subscription service, but it's not really since you don't actually subscribe to it; you pick and chose which boxes you want to purchase and there's no monthly fee or anything. I've been interested in getting a Memebox for a while now (ever since I watched Allura Beauty do an unboxing) but the way Memebox works is that you purchase a box waaaaay in advance and then you have to wait for it to ship to you from Korea (unless you splurge/get a deal on EMS shipping). I'm a very impatient person, and I hate paying for and waiting for things to ship, so I put it off for a while. Then, at the end of August, they had a special where you can order any two boxes and pay shipping just for one so I decided to go for it. They actually do offer value sets where you can purchase two, three, four Memeboxes at once (though you can't choose, they only offer pre-made sets) and just pay for shipping once. Also, you get a free upgrade to express shipping with the value sets. But I wanted to make my own set, so I purchased the #52 Thumbs Up! Beauty Box and the #59 Halloween Special. I just got my Thumbs Up! box, but the Halloween one isn't shipping until October 10th so...the wait continues.
Man, everyone apparently uses pink bubble mailers!

My First Shiro Cosmetics Order! - Review and Swatches!

Hello! Hope you guys are having a good weekend! I have some really exciting things to share with you guys, one of which is my very first Shiro Cosmetics order!

I've been super into indie cosmetics companies lately (ever since my first Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month!) and have made it a sort-of goal to try as many as possible! ...the problem with this being that I end up with a ton of loose eyeshadow/pigments that I will probably never, ever make it through in my lifetime, so I think I'm going to start just ordering sample baggies unless there's a color I really, really like (or I can't get it in a sample size).

Which is what I did with Shiro Cosmetics! In the same vein as Geek Chic, Shrio Cosmetics makes shadows/face products/lip products themed on geek/nerd and pop culture. They have a very professional and easy to navigate website and overall I am very pleased with this company and highly recommend that you check them out!
I love getting mail!

Ulta Haul! - Benefit, Mario Badescu, NYX, and More!

Hello! Hope you're all having a good week! I'm...90% sure it's Wednesday, so halfway through! ...It's hard sometimes to remember what day it is when your work schedule is kind of messed up.

For this post I have an Ulta haul for you guys! Ulta's been having another "21 Days Of Beauty" promotion going on so they've had a lot of really great deals and gifts with purchase (GWPs from now on because acronyms!) in-store and online. Most of the time, I feel like I get better deals online; things are usually in stock and I don't feel like I have to worry about products being touched by strangers (seriously, the drugstore side of my Ulta is a mess; if it's unsealed, you can bet it's been used). The only things I really like to stop into my Ulta for are a. Zoya nail polish, b. clearance, and c. sometimes they're more lenient with GWPs and will give them to you if you're close enough (if you have to spend $35 to get a GWP and you only spend $32, they'll usually give it to you). Otherwise, online all the way!
Lots of things in bags this time!

September 2014 Ipsy Bag! - Unbagging and Review!

Hello! Hope you're having a good Saturday! The weather has been really weird today; it was warm and sunny this morning/early afternoon, then it stormed, now it's that weird twilight-but-with-sun. So it goes with fall and season transitions. I don't like transitions very much.

So let's talk about positive things! Like getting fun things in the mail! I love subscription services, especially when what you get is a surprise, especially especially when said mystery subscription (at least, it's a mystery if you don't spoil it for yourself) is just $10 a month, shipping included.

I'm talking about my Ipsy subscription! This is probably one of the most well-known beauty subscription services (I would argue that Birchbox is the best known beauty subscriptions) and for good reason. I got my September 2014 bag and, overall, it was pretty neat.
Who wouldn't be excited to get a shiny pink bubble mailer?

September 2014 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month!

Hello! I'm on a roll today with two posts! This is will get everything "old" cleared out from my around my desk; it always feel good to have a clean space.

This post is going to be all about my September 2014 Glamour Doll Eyes Of The Month (from here referred to as "OTM" due to laziness)!

If you don't know, the Glamour Doll Eyes OTM is a monthly subscription from the indie cosmetic company Glamour Doll Eyes that you can purchase in different increments. It is not a recurring subscription, however, so if you only choose to sign up for one month, you'll have to fight for it again the next. And you will have to fight for it. There are only 120 spots available and there are very few individual bags (most people sign up for a few months; I really wanted to get a year's subscription, but I have to wait until January. I could only get a three month, which means October will be my last month and I will have to fight for it in November). You can sign up to be notified when the window to purchase a subscription opens up and they sell out within the hour. You get a different, exclusive pigment every month, along with some candy and maybe even some extras! Vee, the owner of Glamour Doll Eyes says she wants to try and make every month an "extras month", which makes this subscription even more awesome.
Every month comes in a pretty bag (it actually gets mailed in a white bubble mailer to keep things safe, but that's kind of boring)!

Haul Time! - Sephora, Zoya, Bath & Body Works, and More!

Hello! Hope you're having a great start to your Thursday! Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I actually started working part-time; same job and everything, I now just work Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Technically, my "last day" at work was September 4th, but due to timing (and other) issues, they haven't been able to hire someone to take my place so, instead of abandoning my office, I'm sticking around until they find someone! Friday (so...tomorrow) may or may not be my last day; it all depends on my health insurance (they want me to possible work through the first week of October, and if they haven't officially changed me over to part-time, I'll still be able to have health insurance through October. If they changed me, then I won't so there's not much reason for me to stick around). It's been nice only working three days a week (24ish hours), but every day feels like a Monday and a Friday.

I have another haul for you guys! I seem to do these weekly, though they are usually collective hauls; I've been buying things steadily (which really isn't better than buying everything all at once, but it sounds better) over the week or so and by the weekends it all piles up around my desk and it's time to put it away. Depending on my work situation, I might have to put a hold on buying much of anything besides food so...not sure what direction my blog/vlog will take. Maybe a Project X Pan/No Buy is in order...
I'll start with my Zoya order since it's the one I got first!

September 2014 Blush Mystery Beauty Box - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're all having a good Tuesday! I...had kind of a hard day yesterday. I don't want to get too much into it here, I might actually make a separate post to talk about it, but we'll see. I don't like to "force" people into social interactions, especially when the situations are sad. Which doesn't make sense and is vague and I do apologize.

But! Let's move on for now and not dwell on things; I feel like the best thing one can do in these situations is continue life and living, even if it is hard at times. So I decided to blog! I know if I don't make myself do it, it never gets done and then I feel like I can't put my things away until I do blog about them and it all piles up and it gets crazy around my desk (I do have a desk, but I actually sit in our dinning room at our "kitchen table". It's not really a kitchen table and we have never, ever eaten on it. Ever.

For this post, I want to show you guys my September 2014 Blush Mystery Beauty Box! Spoiler alert: not sure how I feel about this box. It wasn't terrible, I can say I've had worse boxes, but it's not stellar, either. Also, I'm not sure if it lives up to it's "$100+ value" promise, which is not cool, Blush.com, not cool at all.

At least the free samples this time were pretty neat!

My Very First Darling Girl Cosmetics Order! - Review and Swatches!

Hello! Hope you're all having a great day! I have another "very first order" post to, well, post! I've been super interested in indie cosmetic companies ever since I got my first Glamour Doll Eyes OTM and I placed some orders with a few different companies; specifically with Glamour Doll Eyes, Darling Girl Cosmetics, and Geek Chic Cosmetics.

My Darling Girl Cosmetics order was the last to arrive since it had the longest turn-around-time (TAT) of 18-20 business days, but I'd say it was totally worth it!
Cute pink mailer! Kind of like the Ipsy pink mailers, except this one is matte (the Ipsy ones are more metallic).

My Very First Geek Chic Cosmetics Order! - Review and Swatches!

Hello! Hope you're all having a great start to the weekend! I touched up my hair color and took a super long shower, so I'm feeling pretty good! Unfortunately, it's already getting cold here and, while it makes it a little nicer walking to work (at least near the end; in the beginning it's cold and annoying), I hate the cold and am not looking forward to winter (especially after how hard last winter was).

For this post, I want to show you guys my very first Geek Chic Cosmetics order! I've been on an indie cosmetics kick and have been exploring what's out there, so I ordered from a couple different companies! I found Geek Chic Cosmetics through Instagram (which is addicting, especially if you find just the right tag to explore) and thought it would be fun to get some pigments based on the nerdy things I like.

September 2014 Julep Maven Box - It Girl - Unboxing and Swatches!

Hello! Hope you're all having a happy Friday! It's been an intense week for me due to the holiday, work, and my health, but I'm hoping things will start to mellow out here and I'll get some time to relax. Hard to believe it's already September; soon the weather will change and get cold and then there will be snow and then I'll be forever wrapped up in 12 layers of sweaters. At least until the next thaw... /sigh

I'm not a big fan of this time of year (except for the candy and the food) and the transition from summer into fall is always a little rough on me. It doesn't help that the beauty world follows the seasons and all the colors change and, well, I'm just not a big fan of fall color schemes.

Unfortunately, the first signs of the color change come with my September 2014 Julep Maven box. I went with the It Girl box this time since I really, really don't need anymore lip products in my life (though...I really, really, super really don't need any more nail polish, but I justify it by the fact that nail polishes can last for years if stored properly).
Nail polish fun!

Kind-of-Late Fortune Cookie Soap Fall 2014 Soap Box - Unboxing and First Sniffs

Hello! Hope you're having a good, relaxing weekend! I know a lot of you have a long weekend due to the holiday, but I also know that a lot of you do not. I'm glad I have the extra time, but I do miss when I worked a more flexible schedule and had my days off in the middle of week; things are less busy then and I feel much more relaxed when I'm out shopping or at an event. My husband and I did end going to the State Fair today and it was nuts. I almost wish I had stopped to take a picture of the sea of people, but I didn't want to be rude and block traffic (like the other people who stopped to take pictures...)

For this post, I'm going to show you guys what I got in my Fall 2o14 Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Box! I'm...pretty sure anyone who's interested has already seen all they wanted to see about the Fall Soap Box since mine came late. There was an issue with the shipping of my box and I have no idea where my original box ended up, but Fortune Cookie Soap was kind enough to not only ship me out a new box, but they also gave me a $5 discount code for my trouble! Fortune Cookie Soap has great customer service and I really appreciate the time they took to help me out.
Puns!

Sale Haul! - Sephora, OCC, Forever 21, and More!

Hello! I love long weekends and I'm glad that the sun is starting to come out! My husband really wants us to go to the Fair (pro tip: the Minnesota State Fair is the best state fair) today, though there was talk of possible rain/storms later in the day. We're just going to play it by ear.

I have a haul post for you guys! My hauls have been a bit sporadic since a lot of the things I've been purchasing lately have been online from companies that take a little bit longer to ship things out (they explicitly state that, so it's not unexpected or anything), but good things come to those who wait! I did get a few orders this week and then I went out to take advantage of some Labor Day sales, so I have a semi-big sale-themed haul for you guys.
Double boxes all the way! ...I may or may not have placed two Sephora orders on the same day.

My Very First Glamour Doll Eyes Order! - Paper Runway and Art Deco Collections!

Hello! I think it's been a while since I last posted anything... I've been buying a lot more online recently, which means I have to wait for my orders to come! I've also had some issues with shipping (notice how I haven't shown you guys my Fall Soap Box yet? There was a shipping issue and Fortune Cookie Soap was kind enough to send me a new one and so I'll be posting about it soon!) so it's been a little quiet around here.

But now it's a long holiday weekend and I got some neat stuff so hopefully this will be a big posting/filming weekend! To get things rolling, I'll start with a post I've been putting off for no good reason: my very first Glamour Doll Eyes order! I was so impressed with my August 2014 OTM (the Glamour Doll Eyes subscription service) that I placed an order for the whole Art Deco and Paper Runway collections in the sample jar size! I got free shipping since I was purchasing samples and it shipped out wicked quick!

Inconspicuous vanilla bubble mailer full of magic! My camera could not figure out how to color balance this...it's been grouchy about oranges lately.

Weekend Haul! - LORAC, Bath & Body Works, and Sally Beauty Supply!

Hello! Hope you're all doing well; I actually stayed home rather ill today. Not fun. I really don't like staying home from work...it's nice to be able to rest and recover and not have to do anything, but I can't shake the feeling I'm doing something I'm not supposed to and it just feels "wrong" and then I have to go back to work the next day so what is even the point?

The point is is that I worry way, way too much. But I'm an anxious person by nature. One of the reasons why I hate traveling is that all I do while I'm away is think about everything I'm going to have to do when I get home...

In this post, I'm going to show you guys some neat (is it ever not neat? If I didn't like the things I bought...I probably wouldn't be buying them. Hmm. I seem to be going in odd directions tonight) stuff I got! I got two online orders, than I picked up a couple things on a quick trip to Sally Beauty Supply (and Marshalls).
How cute is this shipping box? 'Cause...I think it's pretty cute!

Julep - 100 Degrees of Mystery Box - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you guys had a great weekend! I'm actually not feeling well, which is unfortunate since I have work bright and early tomorrow...we'll see how this turns out.

For this post I want to show you guys what I got in my Julep 100 Degrees of Mystery box! I have...mixed feelings about Julep mystery boxes, but since I skipped my August box and some kind soul used my Julep referral link so I had $15 to spend, I decided to go for it.

How did it turn out?
Back to the old cardboard boxes; I liked the special, fancy ones from the last box!

August 2014 Ipsy Bag! - Beauty Schooled - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're doing well. I'm sad to see Saturday already come to a close; I wish I had another long weekend like I did last week. It's getting harder and harder to wake up every day and go to work, but hopefully things will improve soon since my husband and I are both in the market for new jobs! We might look into working part-time and then using the rest of our time to pursue our passions (me crafts, he streaming videogame playing).

This is going to be the unboxing and review of my August 2014 Ipsy subscription! I love Ipsy; it's only $10 a month, shipping included, and I feel like I always get my money worth! $10 for a beauty surprise every month? Yes, please!

This month, Ipsy really wanted me to ruin the surprise; they kept sending me e-mails saying I can "sneak peek" at what I was getting in my Glam Room. Isn't part of the fun of these subscription boxes the surprise? It's bad enough I have to be careful when I'm on social media so I don't get spoilers! Unfortunately, through my Instagram browsing, I did catch a glimpse of the bag and a few products. At least I didn't know that I was getting those items for sure.
Pink mailer of mystery and intrigue!

August 2014 Glamour Doll Eyes "Of The Month" - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! I've had a very eventful Saturday morning! Our refrigerator decided to break suddenly so I've been kind of freaking out about our food. One of the perks of living in an apartment is that when something like this happens, you don't really have to deal with it! I was able to get in contact with emergency maintenance and they just brought us a different, working fridge from an unoccupied apartment. I did have to throw out all the stuff that was in our freezer and some stuff in the fridge (pretty much just the deli meat and milk; everything else in there was whole fruit like apples and cans of soda) but it could have been much worse!

I have a really exciting unboxing and review for you guys! I was finally able to sign up for a three month subscription to the Glamour Doll Eyes "Of The Month" (from here on out called "OTM")! Subscriptions only go on sale one day a month, and there is a set number of subscriptions available at any given time. It kind of feels like a secret club! The subscription was $15 for three months, plus $6 for shipping, making it average out to $7 a month. Considering how a single Glamour Doll Eyes shadow sells for $6 not including shipping, and you get some extras like candy and other samples, it's a pretty good deal!

Sephora VIB Rouge Party Haul! - Plus Ulta, Target, Sally Beauty Supply, and More!

Hello! I love parties; well, that's not entirely true, I don't like parties that have me as the center of attention because, well, I really hate being the center of attention. Weird, I know. I felt so awkward at my wedding; the photographer kept asking me to pose and was taking pictures and I was like, don't you have other things to be taking pictures of? Two years and a couple months later my husband and I still haven't looked at our wedding photos (we both think we look awkward in pictures) so...there you go.

But! Parties! For VIB Rouges! Because we spend so much money. It feels good to be recognized, even if it's for a sad, shallow reason. This is the second Sephora party I've been to and it was just as fun as the first one! This time they had reps from Tarte and Dior (and one other brand which I think was Benefit but I can't remember) and while there wasn't a discount (last time it was during "Chic Week" and we had 20% off ALL THE THINGS) there was 4x bonus points for Rouges. Nice. I hung out, ate some free snacks, played with some makeup, and bought some things. Which I'll show you! I also bought some things from other stores, so I'll show those to you, too!
We got a neat tote! I like this tote; the plain black and white striped ones are nice, but I like how this one announces to world that "I SPEND MY MONEY FOOLISHLY".

August 2014 Blush.com Mystery Beauty Box - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're having a good week! It's the end of Wednesday so we're half way through! Yay! Well, halfway through if you work a "normal" work week which, honestly, I'm not that fond of. I actually miss working a somewhat skewed work week where my days off fall on weekdays. It's just less busy everywhere and doing laundry is so much easier when you don't have to fight over machines...

As the title says, this post is going to be all about my August 2014 Blush.com Mystery Beauty Box! I really do like this box, but I have been tempted towards trying out BoxyCharm or the new and improved Sample Society box... But that's in the future!

The Blush.com Mystery Beauty Box is a $24.95 a month (I pay closer to $27 due to taxes), shipping included, bag of mystery beauty products! You get a mixture of samples and full sizes and I've only gotten one "foil packet" once and I'm still kind of bitter about it. What I like most about this box is that you're guaranteed a value of at least $100 in products (most often more), which is the most value I've found for boxes in the $20-$25 a month price range (Glossybox is around $60-$70 and BoxyCharm seems to hoover around a similar value).
It always amuses me that this Mystery Box is a bag, inside of a box. I don't know why, it just does.

Urband Decay Ammo Palette - First Impressions and Swatches!

Hello! Again, as I promised in my last haul, I have another product I wanted to do a more in-depth review/first impressions/swatch post on! This time it is, as the title suggests, the Urban Decay Ammo palette!
Reusing pictures!

Summer 2014 Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip Kit - First Impressions and Swatches!

Hello! As promised in my recent haul, I'm going to go more in-depth about the Give Me Some Lip kit Sephora recently released for summer 2014. It seems kind of weird to me for them to release a summer kit so late in the game; most companies are coming out with their Fall lines right now. Not that I'm complaining; I don't like Fall/Winter so I'm more than happy pretending they're still a long way off.

I purchased this kit online when it was only available to VIBs, but I believe it's now available to everyone (on the site, at least. Not sure if these are in stores yet). I wasn't going to since I have more than enough lip products, but I love these Sephora Favorites kits since I love trying new things and they're a great way to explore different brands/products/colors.
Deja Vu box shot!

An Eclectic Haul! - Fashion, Beauty, and More!

Hello! Man, I'm sorry, again I am falling behind on these blog posts and I don't even know why! What's worse, I have things piling up all around me again and...I'm getting confused as to what goes where...

So I'm going to try my best to put the rights things in the right posts! I'm also going to make a few posts that look at a couple of these items more in-depth (I also filmed separate videos for these items as well), and since I'm going out of state for the weekend, I'd better get them done fast!

This post is going to be a haul/overview of the things I purchased over the last week or so (technically, two weeks agoish now) and instead of the normal beauty items, I got some clothes, too! I'm such a sucker for half off of half off sales...
Let's do this! Ooooo, Fortune Cookie Soap box shot!

Barely-A-Haul! Becca, Kat Von D, Maybelline, and More!

Hello! Again, I was super duper uncreative and just copied the name of my Youtube video. ...but, if I'm copying myself, doesn't that still imply that I came up with it in the first place and am, thus, actually creative? Probably not. I just keep telling myself that so I feel better.

Anyways! Happy Saturday! This post is soooo late and for that I am sorry. I don't know why I've been avoiding it. I'd still be avoiding it if I didn't have another haul building behind me and I'm concerned I'm going to get them confused as to when I got what. This was a pretty small haul, which is where I get fuzzy on the definition on the word "haul". I'm also fuzzy on the word "unboxing" and when precisely you can transition from a "first impressions" to a true "review". The blogosphere is confusing.

For this haul, I ended up only getting stuff from Sephora and Target, so I can actually list the brand names of the things I got in the title! I feel like that's much more descriptive than saying I got stuff from Ulta and Sephora, but it would make my titles unwieldy and long.
Let's start with Sephora!

Birthday-ish Haul! - Marc Jacobs, LORAC, Zoya, and More!

Hello! It's the weekend! I actually left work a couple hours early today so I could go to the Target Clinic before the after-work-before-the-weekend rush. Nothing too serious, but I have some face things I wanted to take care of and I inadvertently got some medicine for my acne. I've been reluctant to get medical help for my acne, but I suppose it's finally time. It's serious stuff and I'm kind of leery of using it...Yes, that's exactly what you want to read about on a makeup blog post. Actually, maybe you do; I can see that being an interesting post. I just want clear skin, damnit!

As the (uncreative) title suggests, this is my sort-of birthday haul! These are things I got on/after my birthday, which occurred after my mom came down for a visit so basically what I'm trying to say is that this is almost a continuation of the haul before this one. ...yeah.

Not much of a box shot...

July 2014 Ipsy Bag - Unbagging and Review!

Hello! The weekend is sadly almost at an end! It always seems to go by nice and slow on Saturday and then all of a sudden it's Sunday evening and work is right around the corner! I always hated the feeling of Sunday nights when I was child; I remember getting depressed when Nick At Nite came on and I still have a bad association with the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. As an adult it doesn't feel quite so final since, as you get older, time seems to go by faster, but I can't shake that feeling that Sunday nights are never pleasant.

So I thought I'd do something fun and share with you guys my July 2014 Ipsy bag!

July 2014 Blush Mystery Beauty Box - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Are you having a good weekend? We're well into Saturday and it's been a very productive day for me; I got a lot of videos filmed and I cleaned the bathroom. I've been putting it off for a while and decided to finally just do it, in a full face of makeup none-the-less! I used a bleach-based product for the first time ever today and, wow. It was terrible to work with, but it gets the tub clean. I've always gone with the more "natural" and biodegradable stuff and it's always been a struggle to get things really clean. But bleach. Man. Impressive.

But you're not here to hear about my cleaning adventures (though I do know that that's actually a common type of blog/vlog!), you're here to see what came in my July 2024 Blush.com Mystery Beauty Box!
No box shot, just the bag this time!

Haulin' On! - Sephora, Ulta, MAC, and Just Way Too Many Other Places!

Hello! I'm sad to say my long weekend is almost over. I was hoping I'd get bored of having so much free time now (kind of like what happens with long breaks from school) and be "excited" to go back to work, but I'm finding that's not the case. I'm really enjoying just being able to stay home and sleep whenever I want, especially since my body decided to succumb to some weird sinus/ear infection cold type thing.

I'm doing something a little different this time around! Normally, I wait until I make a video before I make a blog post, but I've been having some issues with making videos this last week or so since I've been busy and my husband's been home during the times when I feel like making a video (I have a hard time filming when he's home since he has to be quiet and I feel awkward talking in front of him. Weird, I know). Also this weekend was the Evolution fighting game convention/tournament thing so he's been streaming it all weekend long.

This is a pretty big haul; I've been collecting this stuff for a couple weeks now and it's getting out of control and I just really need to get my desk area cleaned up and these items put away. I also don't use most of what I buy until I make a video and post a blog about it, so I haven't even been enjoying all my new things!
This is where it all began...

Surf's Up Voxbox - Unboxing and First Impressions!

Hello! I'm continuing with my new trend of blogging then filming. It feels more efficient, especially since it's sometimes harder to film now than it is to blog due to weird time constraints (meaning that I only like to film when my husband is at work and that usually only gives me Saturday mornings). Before, I much preferred filming over blogging and would procrastinate until I couldn't stand all the stuff around my desk (confession time: I don't have a desk per se, I'm actually using our dining room table. I've commandeered it for all my stuff, including my fish, Cicero) but now I kind of like the idea of getting blogging out of the way first and then putting everything away right after I film.

For this post, I'm going to do a kind-of unboxing (I'm still a little unsure of the definition of "unboxing"; I hear a lot of people on Youtube say that they're not doing a "real" unboxing since they've already opened it, but then what would you call something like that if it's not an "unboxing"? English is a difficult language...) and first impressions of the products I received in my very first Influenster Voxbox! I also have to tell you that I was sent these items for free for review purposes. I was not, however, compensated for this review beyond the items themselves and my opinions remain uninfluenced and my own.

Yay, coral!

July 2014 Julep Maven Box - Classic With A Twist - Unboxing and Review!

Hello! Hope you're all having a great weekend! I took a few days off for my birthday and, what do you know, I came down with a pretty bad sinus infection/ear infection/cold thing. Neat. At least I get four days to just sit back and relax and get better, but it still kind of sucks. Since I don't feel like doing anything else, now is a great time to catch up on some blogging!
This post is going to be about my July 2014 Julep Maven box! I went with the Classic With a Twist box this time around because none of the other colors interested me.

Too Faced Cat Eyes Eye Shadow Palette - First Impressions and Swatches!

Hello! It's been a while!About ten days now, actually...weird, it feels like it's been longer. I've been busy with the Fourth and work (which I am slowly phasing out of, hopefully phasing soon into something new...) and I've been spending much of my free time sleeping (or eating. Or shopping. That's about it, really. Well, also obsessively leveling up my team in Bravely Default. I just like being OP in RPGs...) so I've been sadly neglecting my blogging duties. I did make videos, though! I have a bunch more I have to make, but at least I got a few done...

If the title wasn't a big hint, this post is going to be all about the new Too Faced Cat Eyes palette they released for Fall! When I purchased this, it was only available directly from Too Faced, but now it's up on Sephora.com. I haven't seen it in stores, so I think you can only get it online for now.
Cute box shot this time!

Miss A Haul and Review! - $1 Accessories and Cosmetics!

Hello! Are you getting ready for the 4th of July? Do you have a short work week, or do you have to work on the holiday (this is only the second 4th I haven't had to work so I'm pretty pumped for a three-day weekend)? The weather's been so goofy here lately; it was so chilly this morning I had to wear a jacket, but then it got sunny and warm by the end of the day. I always feel so awkward when I go shopping and have to carry my jacket around when it's so nice out....when I used to work in retail, one of the clues that someone was up to no good was that they were dressed inappropriately for the weather. I always get so paranoid that employees think I might try and steal that I try and carry everything in plain view and try not to look shady. It usually works against me...

But I don't have to worry about things like that (or any other kind of social interaction for that matter...) when I shop online! Which is what I did (and do...all the time)! For this post, I want to show you guys what I got from a really cool website called Miss A; it's an accessory and cosmetic website where every single thing is $1 and shipping is always $3.99.

A bag full of excitement! And inexpensive jewelry! There are a lot of exclamation points in this post already...

Stay Tuned For More Hauling! - Sephora, Ulta, Julep, e.l.f., and More!

Hello! Whew I haven't posted in a while...which means it's about time for a haul! I'm again in that lull between subscription boxes so what do I do? Order things online because I love getting packages! Though it is kind of an addiction so I need to be careful...I might actually put myself on a no-buy (technically, it will be a "I'm allowed to only buy these certain things" since I have a list of things I "need") but July in my birth month which means exciting birthday gifts!
Sexy bag shot! Except not really, but I thought it would be fun to open with a non-box...

Haul Time! - Sephora, Ulta, Target and More!

Hello! Be forewarned, this post is probably going to be really, really long. I have a lot of things to show and talk about; my desk area is getting cluttered and out of hand! No opening banter here, I want to get right to it! This is going to be a big collective haul over the last few weeks from the usual suspects: Sephora, Ulta, Target, MAC, and a few extras.

I'm going to start with my Sephora orders because I like starting with box shots!

Double box shot bonus time!

My Very First e.l.f. Cosmetics Order - First Impressions!

Hello! Yup, another post today! Still Father's Day, still gorgeous outside, and I'm still sitting inside at my computer because that's what I like to do with my life. I did actually go out today and spent some time at the mall, so I'm not a complete shut in...

I bought my very first e.l.f. cosmetics makeup! I have a few of their brushes from the Studio line (and I really like them!), but I've never used any of their makeup products. People speak very highly of e.l.f. products (most of them, anyways. Like any cosmetic company, they have their hits and misses) and all their products are very affordable. I was browsing the e.l.f. website and they were having a deal where you could get a Summer Siren set worth $28 for just $3 with any $25 dollar purchase. The Summer Siren set included a baked eyeshadow palette, one of the items I was interested in trying, so I figured now was a good a time as any to place an order! I ended up spending $35 to get free shipping because as you guys know, I hate paying for shipping.
I love a full box of makeup!

June 2014 Rainbow Honey Mini Mystery Bag! - Unbagging and Review!

Hello! Hope you're having an excellent day (or night or whenever, I don't discriminate based on time)! I have a good amount of posting I need to do, so let's get to it!

This post is all about the June 2014 Rainbow Honey Mini Mystery Bag! This is a newer subscription service (though you can buy the bags individually without having to subscribe; right now there's no real benefit to subscribing besides guaranteeing you'll get a bag, but I might actually sign up since I really like this mystery bag!) from Rainbow Honey, an indie nail polish company that's branching out into other cosmetics. You can get the mini size (like mine) for $10 a month plus about $4 shipping, or you can opt for the full size for $25 plus shipping (which I think is $4, too, but I'm not sure). I believe both bags have the same items, you just get the full sizes in the $25 bag.
It comes packaged so cute!
