Iron Man Nendoid: It Finally Came!

Hello! Ugh, I am so sorry for neglecting my poor blog. I how so much to write about, but seem to be lacking the time to do it. But let's not dwell on that and get right to the point: my Iron Man Nendoroid came! I actually got it quite a while ago (I think it came the second week of April...) and I love it! It looks exactly like the promo pictures, including the little diorama of New York City on his base. I was super worried they were going to have to change it to a plain base (which he also comes with) due to manufacturing difficulties, but nope, there it is!

My poor husband had wanted to surprise me and hadn't told me when Iron Man had been shipped out. I was getting anxious about it because I kept seeing other people with their Iron Man's online and kept pestering him about it. Finally, he caved and told me that mine had shipped the previous week and that it should be here soon (I chose SAL shipping; there's no tracking and it usually takes one to one and a half weeks for things to get to us). I was actually kind of glad he waited to tell me; that meant a week's shipping time had already passed and I hadn't even known it was coming (I'm...kind of impatient when it comes to shipping). I had to wait an extra to get him after he was delivered since we weren't home when the postperson came (we have three or four different postal workers who deliver our mail and they are of various genders) and the management office was closed by the time we got off of work. We went and picked him up the next day, and this is what greeted me when I opened the box:
We ordered him from AmiAmi and they really like to make sure their packages are packed very securely.

Random Haul(s)

Hello! Hope you're all doing well and staying warm! For being spring, it sure is wintery here, which has been kind of a downer. To be honest, I haven't been feeling well lately, but doing a blog post will cheer me up. So let's get started!

Today is going to be a pretty random haul. I think I'm going to start calling my "purchases" "hauls" because that's what everyone else seems to do. To me, a haul has to be pretty huge, but I've seen videos/read blogs where people get like 4-5 things from two or three different stores and call it a haul so I feel like the definition of the word has broadened in the "blogosphere". There was a break in the weather recently where it was nice enough out for me to go walking, so I went to the mall and picked up a few things!

Disappointing Sephora Order

Hello! Hope you had a good weekend and are all rested up ready for a new week! Haha, I feel a little weird starting off a potentially negative post with such a happy opening. Yes, unfortunately, my most recent purchase from Sephora was a bit of a let down. I've had nothing but positive experiences in the past with them, so I was really surprised at how this order turned out. It sounds weird, but since this is the first time I feel Sephora has let it's quality control slip, it's made me a little less interested in purchasing from them in the future. I know, one mess up shouldn't be enough to turn me off of a company, especially since it's really been the only mess up, but it just makes me question whether Sephora is slipping or not. I did get my 15% off VIB coupon for chic week, so I'll most likely be ordering from them again soon, but if it turns out like this order, I may have to start thinking about going back to just purchasing from them in store.
Let's get started, shall we?

Julep Maven Welcome Box

Hello! I hope you're all having a great weekend! I have an exciting post for you today! Recently, I've been watching a lot of Youtube videos of sample box openings/reviews (...I got a little obsessed after Glossybox...) and I've been trying to narrow down which (if any) other sample box subscriptions I should sign up for. One box that I kept seeing pop up every now and then was the Julep Maven boxes. At first, I wasn't interested; after all, $20 a month and all it is is nail polish (you do get other things, but it's all basically related to hands and feet)? Didn't sound like a good deal to me. After watching a few more videos (and seeing some amazing mystery boxes...) I got a little more curious. I browsed the Julep site, saw the different starter boxes and past month boxes, and became interested in trying their subscription service out. Lucky for me, I found a code online and got my first box for a penny! I did have to pay shipping of $3.99 (when you actually are a Maven, shipping is free! And you get 20% the items in the store!) and I also added on some quick dry drops for $4.99, but it still was less than $9, so I was happy. In fact, I actually regret not taking advantage of being able to add three "upgrades" to my starter box; for $20, I could have gotten three additional items (technically two more since I already got the drops) which would have been an amazing deal. Oh well, live and learn.

So how Julep Maven boxes work, is that you take a style quiz. The quiz will put you in one of five categories of style: Modern Beauty (these boxes don't have any nail polish in it, only beauty items), Boho Glam (which is me!), Bombshell, Classic With a Twist, and It Girl (these boxes look like they always have three polishes in them; the other boxes seem to have two polishes and a beauty item). You don't have to stick with what style category the quiz picks for you, and you can change what type of box you want to get whenever. When they show what will be in the boxes for the month, you can log into your account and change to a different box if you don't like what's in the one that was selected for you. I think that's really neat, and very considerate of Julep. You can also buy boxes from the past as well as the other boxes for that month if you can't chose between them!

Julep just changed what items are included in the welcome boxes (seriously just now, like within the week), so the items I got in my starter box will be different than what you'd get if you were to sign up today. I kind of like what's in the new boxes, so I might actually buy myself one! (Not to mention the other boxes I want to get...seriously, they're all so good!).

Let's get to opening my box!

Shopping Trip!

Hello! It looks like Spring is finally starting and I hope you're all enjoying this lovely turn in the weather! Spring is my favorite time of year for fashion and make-up; I love all the pastels and soft fabrics. I tend to wear "spring" colors most of the year just because I love them so much. It always makes me sad when fall comes and everyone switches back to deep jewel tones and then winter gets so blah and neutral. Even summer can be kind of boring with the crisp whites and saturated colors. Well, maybe "boring" isn't the right word, but it doesn't really appeal to me. Pastels are so much softer, so feminine and, well, just plain cute! But I'm not here to talk about spring, I'm here to talk about some neat things I got and a surprisingly disappointed Sephora order.
