Haru-Chan

Hello! I had meant to post this yesterday, but I decided it would be better to wait until the morning when I would have better lighting for pictures. My apartment faces a weird direction, so we get very little natural light. It's kind of disappointing and makes the place look very drab and gloomy. It also means I have a very small window of time in which to take photos if I want to take them in natural light. Anyways!

A couple days ago, my husband surprised with a package after work (technically, since I live super close to where I work, I saw the package when I came home for lunch, but I didn't have the time to open it until I got home afterwards)! It was supposed to be a Valentine's Day gift, but it came sooner than he expected (he even shipped it SAL, too, and it came in like a week and a half) and he's not very patient. What was in my surprise package from overseas?

A Haru-chan Nendoroid! This is the back and front of her box!

Sick!

Hello! I had meant to post this sooner, but I've been quite sick the last few days. I even stayed home from work on Monday, which was unfortunate since, as you know, I'm trying to save up for an Innocent World oddment pack (and hopefully, a big one at that!). I am glad I did stay home, though, since I think it really helped and I'm already starting to feel a bit better and more functional.

I went out shopping Sunday and got some goodies! First, I went to Toys R Us. I tend to avoid going to TRU since they always overcharge for their stuff ($5 for a pack of pokemon cards? No, thanks.) but my husband really wanted to check out what was new. I ended up getting some My Little Pony blind bags since they were buy one get one 50% off AND they were actually cheaper than they are at Target! I was really surprised; all the MLP merchandise was cheaper at TRU than it was at Target. I got a crystal blind bag and a series 2 blind bag.
Luckily, I didn't get a Rainbow Dash (I was pretty sure I would), but I did get a double.

Collecting

Hello! Hmm, I'm still trying to figure out how to open these posts. I'll get it figured out soon

Anyways! I...bought some more things last night. You know, I get the feeling this blog is going to make me seem like I'm buying things all the time. Which I am, I suppose, it just feels weird to see it all recorded and cataloged.

Since I didn't buy the Innocent World lucky pack, I have a little more wiggle room financially this month. I decided to get some things I had put on the back-burner (Like the magazines I ordered yesterday. I had some fashion news to catch up on! Well, not that I can actually read it. I really like how much more visually concentrated Japanese magazines are. I'm a huge fan of complexity. When I was little, I loved looking at I Spy books just for how complex and detailed the photos were. I think it stems from my love of exploring; especially houses.). I bought a couple things to add to my collections! Currently, I'm collecting Monster High dolls, My Little Ponies, and Pokemon cards.

I also really love blind bags! It's my little way of gambling, I guess. I think it's what draws me to things like lucky packs and Pokemon cards - not knowing what you're going to get.
So, obviously, the first things I got were a pack of Pokemon cards (from the Boundaries Crossed expansion) which I sadly forgot to photograph, and a crystal My Little Pony blind bag!

Random Purchases

Hello! I'm still trying to get a feel of where I want this blog to go, so I'm not sure how to open this post beyond saying; "I bought things!". It feels little...generic, but I can't think of anything else to open with.
I went out yesterday to get the March/April issue of "Crochet Today!". If you don't know what that is, it's a bimonthly magazine by Red Heart that has a handful of crochet patterns as well as a few articles about yarn shops, crochet accessories, and helpful tips/tricks. I've been picking it up for about a year now; I know I should get a subscription, but I don't know if I'm going to be in my apartment for another year and I'm pretty lazy when it comes to things like address changing. It's a little expensive for a magazine ($7 an issue), but they generally have some interesting patterns. They do have some pretty awful yarn color-choices, though I rarely use their yarn/color suggestions since I dislike the Red Heart yarn line.

The Beginning

Hello! My name is Kulla (no, it's not really, but it is online so there you go). I'm hoping to start a blog! Why do I want to start one? Well, I like to talk about things that interest me, but I don't like to bore people who aren't interested in the same things I am. With a blog, I can talk all I want, and if someone's not interested, they can just "tl;dr" and leave. So it's a nice passive aggressive way to get talk about myself as much as I want.

I also have this weird love of looking at all the things other people buy. I don't know why, but I love reading blogs and threads about things people have purchased, and their thoughts on the things they purchased (I guess you could basically call those "reviews"). I want to contribute to that pool of "posts of things people have bought and then have talked about" so hopefully my blog will be a little of that as well.

One thing that has really been holding me back from starting this sooner is that I'm very cautious about what I want to put out there for the whole internet to see. I'm not sure how personal I want to make this blog, nor what exactly I'm going to include on it. Right now, I'm going to start it off small and see how I'll expand it later.

Um, sorry if this blog looks kind of...tacky. I haven't spent much time on the design of it and just picked a template that looked relatively okay. I'm a bit ashamed of it, but I'm not skilled at HTML. I know it's pretty easy to learn, but I haven't quite gotten the hang of it.

Hmm, should I talk a little about myself? I suppose so. I'm a young lady in my mid 20's (I really dislike the word "woman". It sounds very...old to me. I don't think I'll want to call myself a woman until I'm about 40.). I live in the United States in the north Midwest. I love cute things, though sometimes the idea of "cute" can be stretched (for one thing, I think most snakes have really cute faces. The big eyes, the little scales, and the little heat pits are adorable!). I'm a pretty typical nerd/geek and I like things like videogames and tabletop gaming. I'm a huge make-up junkie, even though I rarely wear much more than a BB Cream (...a lot of my "look at what I bought!" posts will probably be about make-up). I love crafting, especially sewing and crochet. I have this weird urge to feel productive all the time, so I think crafting plays into that (I can't just sit and watch TV or talk in the phone, I have to be doing something "productive". How productive crocheting amigurumi food is, I can't say for sure). I also really love to bake. I can't cook all that well (admittedly, I haven't really tried), but I've gotten fairly skilled at baking. I love to read, though I've gotten stuck in a bit of a rut and have been reading books from only a small selection of authors. I read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy, but it's stuff by Terry Pratchet, Neil Gaiman, and William Gibson so it's not stereotypical sci-fi/fantasy. I'm a big fan of Japan and Japanese culture. I went through an embarrassing weeaboo phase in high school that I try to forget, but my love for things Japanese has stuck with me, though it has branched out from anime and manga (which I rarely watch/read anymore sadly) to things like fashion (especially lolita, otome, and mori) and candy (I actually am a big fan of trying candy from different cultures). I have a small lolita wardrobe that I'm trying to build up, so some posts may be about that.

This is by no means a full account of myself; just some talking points I wanted to get out there. I hope that small description helps to give you a better idea of who I am and what this blog may be about.

So there you go! My first post! Like all bloggers, I'm probably going to look back at this and be very embarrassed about it. But at least that means I will have come a long way from where I am now.
